Ponies need this one to get start getting a few Monkeys off thier backs. Big confidence boost for them.
- Get Schletty to move side to side this year instead of shooting right at him.
- Watch for the Home-run breakout passes
- Keep a body on Wahlin, be Physical with Birkbine and get in his head, and dont forget about Jansen.
If Stillwater controls the pace it will be low scoring 3-1 Ponies.

Stillwater has 4 solid D with size. These guys are the offense and the Defense. Ponies have very little up front other than Dochniak.
Bears will need to put a body on Doc. and pressure the points.
If the bears ring the boards agianst these guys it will result in a goal.
(Roseville found this out the hard way against the Ponies)
To close to call-

Have the bears ever scored 2 power play goals against a team over .500?Pioneerprideguy wrote:An early battle for the #2 seed in the section. I think White Bear has a little more firepower. Look for the Bears to score 2 power play goals which will be the difference. Dochniak will have 2 pts, Birkinbine 2 goals and Wahlin 1g 1 a. Bears 4-2.

As much as things change, some things remain the same. Once again this game showed 1 team is a contender & 1 team is a pretender. Sager has taken a great deal of heat over the years, and in some regards, too much. But year in & year out, his team will contend for a conference & section title. The same can't be said for Housely and his team. White Bear watches as kids in their neighborhood opt to attend a different high school, but they lace up the skates and go and compete. That's one of the reasons why Hill-Murray, and people across the state, have a great deal of respect for the White Bear Program. We don't like em, but we certainly respect em. That type of sentiment does not pertain to Stillwater hockey.
I look for White Bear to contend for another SEC conference title & play in yet another section title game and I look for Stillwater to pretend to be revelant in high school hockey.

I don't understand what is wrong over there. They have more hockey players than anyone but year in and out they underachieve. Is it their selection process that's flawed that is turning kids off to the program and placing the wrong kids? It makes no sense. It should be a mathmatical certainty that they would at least win the Sec every few years. They have 3 sheets of indoor ice and that great outdoor sheet now. I think their future is brighter but still doesn't excuse what they've produced so far.Pioneerprideguy wrote:As much as things change, some things remain the same. Lets face it. WBL is a good team in a very weak conference. They have little chance to beat HM, who is a great team in a very weak conference. This is WBL's last chance to beat HM in the foreseeable future. Their youth programs are way down at all levels. If I was Sager, I would take HM off of my schedule. It could get very ugly in the next few years.Pioneerprideguy wrote:As much as things change, some things remain the same. Once again this game showed 1 team is a contender & 1 team is a pretender. Pretty nice win for the Bears..
I still see some major issues regarding the WBL team right now. Transition defense is still a major issue, and at times last night, they had lots of problems breaking out of their own end. The score wasnt exactly indicitive of the play last night, as Stillwater played them fairly close. Schletty had a very nice night in between the pipes, and to be honest, I think Sager should continue to roll with him.
Nice to see Birkinbine bury a couple, because as a previous poster stated, The Bears will go as Birkinbine goes...
Lance Carney continues to do nothing but impress, hopefully he sticks around through his senior year, should be a fun player to see grow
