Frosh Scoring

Post by Teak »

Still haven't gone through the entire set of rosters, but oh well. Here are the frosh scorers that I could find for this weekend's set of games.

Games - Goals - Assists
1 point
Hayden Gautsche, Robbinsdale Cooper, 1-1-0
Teemu Kivihalme, Burnsville, 1-0-1
Travis Wood, Hill-Murray, 1-0-1

Gautsche of Robbinsdale Cooper with the first freshman goal of the season (from what I can tell).

And he is good. I watched the game today via MSBN video-broadcast and they had him playing on the penalty kill! People can complain about Breck as a private school but my goodness, using an 8th-Grader on the penalty kill? There is some serious talent in that family.

Just thought i would chime in to say that Jake Green, Princeton, has 5 points on the season. Against Chisago lakes the goal reported as Chase Lindefelser's was actually Greens. Also, for some reason the hub was never updated after the 2nd period of the St. Francis game that actually ended up 5-3 princeton with Green tallying a goal in the third.

After reading Teak's posts about Keegan Iversen, I watched the Breck/Mahtomedi and Breck/Redwing games on MN Sports Network last night.

I think the announcer gets the Iversen brothers mixed up a lot.
But, here is what I could tell from the video. Breck plays 5 defense
with K. Iversen and the freshman Wittala playing a regular shift and also penalty kill situations. (K. Iversen and Wittala were out there on a 5 on 3 shorthanded situation!)

Breck looks pretty strong again this year.

Okay, noted. But, for my benefit, what is your source for information? I can only use MnHockeyHub for stats since I know of no other online source.

It looks like MnHockeyHub has now posted the complete scoresheet for the St. Francis game, and they have Green down for 3g and 1a in their first two games.

A lot of games tonight. Here are some early reporters:

Nick Pruden of Providence Academy kept his team in the game up until late in the 3rd Period, saving 35 shots in a 5-3 loss to Breck. I watched this game via MSBN and he made several point-blank saves, and showed great poise. Good job Nick!

Jake Green picked up 2 more goals but his Princeton team went down in defeat to Delano 7-3.

Phil Beaulieu picked up his first varsity goal in Duluth East's 10-2 win over Andover. Lance Buchtel also scored his first goal, for Shakopee, in their 5-2 win over Hutchinson.

Hunter Smith had 1 goal and 2 assists for Mound/West Tonka in their 5-3 win over Monticello.

I wouldn't get too excited about it. His goal was weak- slid an inch over the line and the crowd didn't even know there was a goal until the ref went over to the scorer table. Not to take anything away from him but he has a lot to work on and it's a bit of a surprise who they passed over. I wouldn't expect him to see many shifts in tough games (he might have had three in the wayzata game). He's no Joe Arbour.

Aaron Dietmeier scored another goal as the WSFLG "Blizzard" (blizzard of letters?) downed another Wisconsin school 7-1. I am tracking this Wisconsin frosh because they play in the Two Rivers Conference with a bunch of Minnesota schools.

WSFLG is:
W for Webster
S for Siren
F for Frederic
L for Luck (I like that; they have Luck on their side)
G for Grantsburg

Pay attention: there will be an exam over this later in the season.
