I have coached or worked offseason with many of these kids.theDONK wrote:How good are they gonna be????
For the two rivers conference, they will be very strong if all healthy.
Zach Austin, one of Minneapolis West's top scorers broke one of his fingers in several spots playing football. I have heard cast comes off tomorrow and it may be a few weeks before he hits stride.
Fuller, West's top scorer, is out till late December with a fractured clavicle from the elite development league. This will hurt the Nova's.
They have two good lines with the Kelly Twins (East's top scorers), Austin, Fuller, Shepard, and a few others. On defense, Norrgard, Dudovitz, Erickson, and one or two others will be solid. Long story short, they are deep enough in the top two lines and four defense to be greatly improved from past Minneapolis teams.
Goaltenders have worked hard offseason and both Kelliher and Mosley bring Varsity experience back this year.
So how good? If healthy, they will 1) win the two rivers conference, and 2) fight with Hopkins for the fifth seed in Section 6AA (a stretch as Hopkins plays a much more difficult schedule, but with Fons gone Hopkins could struggle and Minneapolis will bring a strong record into the seedings). This alone would be a huge step for Minneapolis hockey.
For a team coming together in the first year, chemistry should not be an issue as all of these kids played together and are friends from their youth years.
Re: Minneapolis
I agree with you on they have some good players, but i dont know if they will come close with hopkins in 6AA. and for the conference dont you think teams like mora; who bring back their first 2 lines from last year and 3 d, or like burnette who has alot of upcoming talent to have a shot at this conference??SWPrez wrote:I have coached or worked offseason with many of these kids.theDONK wrote:How good are they gonna be????

Re: Minneapolis
Burnett has Englehart and one player will not be enough to win the conference. Mora is scary being that they do return almost the whole team that finished top half last yeartheDONK wrote:I agree with you on they have some good players, but i dont know if they will come close with hopkins in 6AA. and for the conference dont you think teams like mora; who bring back their first 2 lines from last year and 3 d, or like burnette who has alot of upcoming talent to have a shot at this conference??SWPrez wrote:I have coached or worked offseason with many of these kids.theDONK wrote:How good are they gonna be????

i agree that englehart needs someone to play with and if they dont have a strong and experienced 2nd line they wont be able to hang with teams for 3 periods.... any guesses on how mora and moose lake finish???MHGr8ness wrote:who will play with Englehart and who can play 2nd line?greatone wrote:Burnett returns all four of their all conference selections. again we'll see...greatone wrote:I am guessing with 15 returning letter winners, they will have plenty of depth. I think they only lost 1 1st liner, 1 2nd liner, and one D.
As for Mora I say 5th in the conference. Moose Lake, top 3? Minneapolis the topic of this thread, will also be towards the top of the conference.
