Christian Gaffy (G) Forest Lake - UMD bound
Good evening,
http://forestlaketimes.com/content/view/5288/31/
Not big news but, I thought I would share it. Will be red-shirted most likely. Will play behind Reiter and Crandall.
FYI...any other UMD recruiting news to mention? It has been a slow summer for news.
Regards,

What has this program accomplished? They tied for a title of a conference that was down last year. They got blown out in the section semis by a team that got blown out in the finals. How many of their youth teams went to state last year?MrBoDangles wrote:The strength in hockey is moving north on 35W/35E! Keep looking for great things from this program.
Flake is a middle of a road program. I guess if you wanna call that great, go for it. The talent moved north on Hwy 35 alright, right past FL and stopped in Duluth!

Beautiful new arena- Hockey families are starting to bypass Blaine, Centennial, White Bear.
The tide is turning with White Bear.
Like I said...... They are making great strides.
Hill Murray has to be the most underachieving program lately for putting out D-1 talent, considering they recruit.

What you just described is an average program. How many state tourney appearances? FL had 2 D1 players and still got blown out in sections?...ouch!MrBoDangles wrote:2 D-1'S from last years teamPioneerprideguy wrote:What has this program accomplished? "The tide is turning with White Bear"? That's the program you are chasing?

Flake was a nice little story during the regular season last year but got exposed in sections. They have a solid group of athletes who will be Jrs this year but their talent pool behind them is not very deep/strong. Aaron is a good guy/coach and gets the most out of his kids. They are an overall middle of the road hockey program in the state of Minnesota....and have been for quite some time.

"The tide is turning with White Bear"? That's the program you are chasing? We've lost track how many straight games we've beaten them.

the kids look pretty good. Working hard in the weight room, and on the ice this summer. Not a top program yet. We have moved up from where this town was for many years!!! Hoops went to state last year, so we have to battle that progam for kids. The arm-pit sniffers always put out a good team, but hockey is starting to find it's own identity.[ 86 pee-wees this year] signed up so far.
Their are some good players and great kids in forest lake, but their hockey programs are not getting any better. My advise for anyone looking to move and have good sports programs for their kids should just skip forest lake and look somewhere else . forest lake does have a very nice new arena ,but the guy that runs it is a idiot and their hockey program is getting worse not better!

Wow fun mom, Lets see hockey team has one of the top young coaches in the STATE!!! Won conference last year.Baseball team goes to state regularly. Hoops went to state last year. Arm pit sniffers are always top ten. And have been for forty years. Softball team went to state last three years. Football team plays 500 in best football conference in the state. What in the Sam h-ll are you talking about.
Well the last time I read lets play hockey forest lake didn't have one team in the top ten ranked teams!!!!! some programs have teams listed in every level boys and girls. I never said forest lake didn't have any talent. They just run their sports programs at the younger ages very badly and at some point those kids will be playing at the highschool level ,and things need to change.
