This bill is proposing that a carbon monoxide detector is installed in every indoor ice arena. There have been a number of instances (with gas-powered and electric facilities) of carbon monoxide poisoning and this bill will require a constant state of monitoring.
Carbon monoxide is an odorless gas. It is MN law to have a carbon monoxide detector within 10 feet of all bedrooms in our homes. Our homes don't have a gas-powered Zamboni in them.
The woman on this video was a professional ice skater and skating coach. She had to give it up due to the carbon monoxide poisoning she's endured. She's probably in the ice rink more than your kids, but it just takes one time.
