I don't know who you're referring to for the 2011-2012 recruit class...other than Miss Ramsey...which I'm happy to see. Congrats to her of course. I'm always glad to see Frosty successfully recruit the talented Minnesota kids.Melvin44 wrote:Looks like Mr Frost is getting it again and has a couple more girls commited to his program from MINNESOTA. Congrats to these girls and the Minnesota program.
I did notice one local TC area sniper at Ridder for many games this past season...I can only hope she's one you may be referring to. That would be outstanding.
And congratulations of course to Miss Stenerson. The all time leading scorer for the Spuds. Great to have her aboard.

From the College Board - seems to make sense if MN has normal 30-40 recuits. The last 2 seasons the JWC have placed all of their players at D1. I don't know all the Thoroughbreds but for sure Stephanie Anderson is a top D1

Minnesota already has 12 girls verbally committed as follows:
Jordyn Burns(Syracuse), Casey Hirsch(Syracuse), Morgan Fritz-Ward (Quinnipiac), Chelsea Laden(Quinnipiac), and Layla Marvin(N.Dakota). From the Jr. Whitecaps committed are Meghan Lorence (Minnesota), Shelby Ansley-Benzie (N.Dakota), Molly Byrne(Mercyhurst), Rachel Ramsey(Minnesota) and Audrey Hanmer(St.Cloud) (the last 3 are formerly Icecats). Finally, there is Emma Stauber(Duluth) and Abby Ness(St.Cloud).
Therefore I suggest that most of the future commitments from Minnesota will most likely come from the Icecat/Jr. Whitecap families. Below are the Icecat/Jr.Whitecap players remaining that are eligible for the 2011-12 recruiting season.
Tiana Press, BSM G Icecats
Julie Friend, Minnetonka G Jr. Whitecaps
Aly McKeever, Hill Murray G Jr. Whitecaps
Marrissa Brandt, Hill Murray F/D Jr. Whitecaps
Jessie Ryan, Cloquet F/D Jr. Whitecaps
Krystal Bauman, Farmington F Icecats
Megan Berglund, Faribault F Icecats
Rachel Bona, Coon Rapids F Icecats

That's a pretty good job by Frost & staff at Minnesota. Very happy to see it...they'll be fun to watch adding these three to an already strong roster.SuperStar wrote:Minnesota

Nice start for the SCSU Huskies as well. Taking big steps to replace their heart & soul lost to graduation.

This is a post on the College Forum that maybe useful. For seniors you will soon be able to get call directly from schools & the opportunity for you to call schools (leave a message if you don't connect you can always call again - coaches are on the move in the summer) and get a return call from the coach. It is an exciting time. There are a few good comments on this post.
If you look at when players verbally commit it is getting earlier and earlier and the money is going out sonner. If you want to play D1 let schools know - contact the ones where you want to go to school. Take advantage this summer to go do unofficial visits it will be different than an official visit later. Make sure you can describe what you do well - coaches have a shopping list "Big smart, defensive D with good shot who shoots left" if coach is trying to replace "a small attacking hybrid type D who shoots R" you likely are not a prospect for that school. Do your homework and if you get the call have a few questions for the coach about the program - know who graduated and confirm what he needs. It is ok to confirm do you see me as a scholarship player for your program or are you contacting me to see if I am interested in walking on - schools will be honest we are looking at 3 girls and you are one of three for this spot. It is a process that moves fast and Coaches work down thier shopping list of needs and thier prioritized players who can fill - sometimes it is the first of the three players who committs. Top schools tend to wait longer though as you have seen this year MN agressively have tied up top players.
Parents the school/coach is recruiting your daughter and wants to get to know her - if they do a home visit they want to meet you and understand your family but they are there to interview and sell your daughter. Help your daughter prepare for calls and visits - remember depending on the school they are looking at investing $60 to $220,000 over 4 years. They want student athlete leaders who can contribute on the ice, locker room and achieve in the classroom - in short good kids who can help the school win games and attract more good kids - prepare your daughter to communicate and display thier best communication skills.
Good luck to all it is a fun experience!
