Congrats to Kevin Smalley and Jerry Hayes

Congratulations to Kevin Smalley, Duluth Denfeld's head coach, for being awarded Coach of the Year in Class A, and to Jerry Hayes of Apple Valley as the Coach of the Year in Class AA.

I'm not too familiar with Apple Valley but I do know that when I looked at Denfeld's roster prior to the season I was thinking they'd be lucky to win 6 or 7 games. Not only did they win 14 but they were able to give Hermantown a run for their money in the section championship game. That was pretty impressive and I'm glad others took notice as well. Congrats again to both coaches, you've earned it!

Kind of surprised with Kevin....guess you would think he would make it to state once in his career before being handed such an award like that? Just my thought.
