Steve Zwieg, 1963-2010

Post by PanthersIn2011 »

Hockey lost a good friend this week with the sudden passing of Steve Zwieg.

Zwigger was a great teammate and one of those guys who made you want to be at the rink. All smiles and laughs in the locker room, but all business on the ice. He was a member of several state tournament teams from South St. Paul, including the 1980-81 3rd place team.

In recent years, Steve had given back to the game by serving as a coach in Woodbury, including both head and assistant positions on the Bantam A team.

Your full bellied laugh will be missed, Zwigger.

Steve's passion for coaching youth was evident when he stepped on the ice for practices and games. He loved coaching kids and did great job in Woodbury at the Bantam level for a number of years. Volunteered even though he had no kids on the team.

Too young to be passing on. We will miss him. All condolences to the Zwieg family.

Deepest sorrow for a family of a man taken too early. Stay strong, cherish the memories and prosper as best as you can thru this time of adversity.

Great player, great coach, greater man. What he did at woodbury extends beyond the Bantam A team. He will be sorely missed and my deepest sympathies are with his family, friends, and all of the players he taught the great game of hockey to.

In fact, missed his own son's games because of his Bantam comittments. His coaching touched a lot of our kid's lives and he will be missed both on and off the ice.
