Post by MrHockey35 »

Can mahtomedi knock off STA going into section playoffs Thursday night at St. Thomas?

First meeting Zephyrs fell 6-3 after leading early 3-0.

This game could go either way. Both teams, who have a very similar make up this year to last year, went 1-1-1 against each other last year with 13 GF and 13 GA.

Prediction:
STA 5
Maht 2

STA has to powerful of offense for an upset this year, besides marshall mahtomedi defensemen are average at the best. STA does have a weakness however that is their goal tending, that is how they will be beaten.

BUT

I got:

STA- 6

Mahtomedi- 2

The logical call here is STA by a few. I'll go 3-3 tie.

Just maybe!

I'm hoping the Zephs can repeat what they did last year - beat STA the last game of the regular season and then put them away come Section Final time!! Tough to beat a team 3 times in one year...I'm just sayin'.

Hope Marshall and the 1st line got lots of rest this week, as they are going to need it. Wohlers in between the pipes needs a huge game as well.

Mahtomedi - STA

Post by stpaul »

Mahtomedi 6, St. Thomas Academy 3

STA knocked out of a conference co-championship. Thanks, Zephs. After the cheap shot on Kevin Becker you owed Hill-Murray one.

Congrats to my favorite private school team from your friendly neighborhood Goldfishdude to the north.

Awesome win for the Zephs. They are my favorite Class A team.... Good luck in sections, Zephs!!

Sorry to intrude on that exclusive Mahtomedi / STA thread. Nope did the banner tonight, although I could have done it at the start. What, no White Bear banner for finishing 4th. There is no "backing into" a conference title. All 16 games count whenever they're played. HM 15-1 makes them 1st and STA at 14-2 makes them 2nd. Over in the Suburban East, WBL at 12-5-1 makes them 4th - behind another one of those private schools.

Wohlers is a tommie killer.

Marshall with a very good game both offensively and defensively. 2 goals

great game so fun to watch emotions were high and the large student sections kept the place buzzin

congrats to the zephs!!

No offense intended "st paul" but maybe your posts are better suited for the "youth" forum

Don't worry, the news of Hill-Murray's success reaches the youth forum which only adds to the continued success of the program.

Well, hopefully they got the loss behind them and they go into sections as the #2 seed with everything to prove and the #2 seed wins just like last year.

This is BS. Sorry to say it, but these kids just lost a battle with another top team, its OK coach you can't win 'em all. This is fine if you just got embarassed by a much worse team, but this is just a-hole coaching.

Johnny, once again Hill-Murray HS doesn't have a bantam team. Neither does Stillwater HS. Of course in your world Sillwater HS would own all of the players in the Stillwater Assn. Thank God we don't live in your world.

We live in a place called America where we don't have to go to the school operated by the state. There was a place like that once called the Soviet Union but it fell part. I'm sorry. They did, however, have a great hockey team. But then in 1980 the greatest public school team in the world lost to a bunch of college kids from America, some of whom had gone to private schools. I think you now know the meaning of that story.

Wasn't at the game, so I can't comment on the play, but if there was a lack of effort/hustle/grit on the STA players or if there was too much STA individual play with un-necessary turn-overs, by all means, skate'em..skate'em hard!

In fact a NP practice today would be a good idea....
