Why is the East PW A tourney at crappy Fryberger???

Post by northernlaker »

How and Why are teams paying all the money to play at Fryberger???
What a crappy thing when they spent all that money for the Heritage Sports Center! I hope all the teams enjoy that dump! WHAT A JOKE.

Duluth Hockey set the available ice for this tournament. Duluth East had no input or choice in the matter. Also, that is why the entry fee is $100 less per team this year even though the ice rate is billed the same as Heritage arena. Also, I belive there is a girls hockey event at the Heritage. I know the East parents that have to volunteer there all weekend are not happy about it, other teams get to leave after their game is over. The players don't mind it - just the parents, and yes the parents pay for it.

I beg to differ

If Duluth hockey dictated they go to fryberger, then the planners of the tourney should have used Mars Lakeview, Saha or somewhere else.
Duluth ( daha ) can't tell you what ice you can use!

Poor planning......... and the East parents should work there own tourney.........

Anyway you slice it it is a horrible venue. Bad seating, Bad everything.

this is not the only Duluth tournament this year being ran at fryberger, any one hosting a sixteen team tourney in duluth, needs to use fryberger and the heritage, fryberger not the nicest of facilities, but great ice for the kids!

I would debate "Great Ice", yeah it's hard as hell but the last two tourney's there is was as rough as it was hard. Complete disgrace that a building that cold doesn't have a glass sheet.

everytime we have been up there, it has been great, maybe the two times you were here it was bad, maybe zamboni issues. even if it is a little ruff, it is still better than skating in the rinks around the twin cities that are soft and about 45 degrees in there

let's be honest, nobody goes to Duluth for hockey tournaments to play at a great facility. Everyone goes there so the parents can "have fun" in Duluth. In the last 2 seasons, everytime we went up there, we played METRO teams for 3 of the 4 games, we could have done that at home. Yet we all still go back, why? the rinks blow, the games are against teams we play all year, but it's Duluth and you probably have at least 4 or 5 parents on your team who went to college up there and everyone has a cousin living there...call it what it is, a good time trip...nothing wrong with that.

In the meantime, you know, bring the NORTHFACE -40 weight for Freezeberger...pack it or get hypothermia, your choice!

Are you calling him maroon, a moron, or a mormon?

Be careful not to offend the mormons; you don't want to anger that many hockey moms.

How old are you?

And what, if anything, do you know about DAHA, D11 and MH?

So you are either ignorant or stupid.

Take whatever title you wish.

Northernlaker, don't like what DAHA does, quit complaining and get elected to the board instead of just bashing them on a blog

Northernlaker is entitled to his opinion about Fryberger, and from what I can tell, he finds it to be less than satisfactory.

In addition, though hockeycentral finds the notion less than appealing, Northernlaker is also entitled to his opinion of DAHA. Due to the sensitivity of the raw nerve that was rubbed, perhaps hockeycentral, or her husband, is currently on the DAHA board; if so, perhaps they would like to step aside to make room for Northernlaker to take a seat at the table. If not, bashing is pretty much what blogs have been used for since bloggers started blogging.

Please note, though Northernlaker is also entitle to his opinion about Elliot, I do not concur that Elliot is a moroon.

i have nothing to do with DAHA or does my wife. I understand he has his opinion. Does not like what is going on, try to change it, that is all I am saying. But just like everyone else on these blogs, bash their associations but do nothing to change it, step up to the plate and try to make a change if you do not like what is going on. And i am not even in DAHA association

Thank you sir.
I, in no way or shape, feel like a moroon.

I have been called names and have acted like a name nlaker may have meant.

Unfortunately, for nlaker and other east siders, the Duluth East program people have little power in DAHA.

Perhaps the above, or something similar, should be inserted at the beginning of each new thread.
Along with a warning, 'Bash at your risk!'

Please have thick skin when bashing or being bashed. Most is done in jest or on the spur of the moment.
Just be creative in your response and get 'even'.
Remember, showing up at someone's door is not allowed.

Just think of the history in that building, the great players that have played there as kids. We were there last year for the Spirit of Duluth A Bantam Tourney. It was -20 degrees outside and somewhere around 20 degrees inside but we loved every minute of it.

Those are memories.

sometimes intervention is necessary...

Pretty simple answer don't go if you don't like the facilities.

Since i can have my opinion on this board, ( i thank you for that ! )
i would also like to say, Mr E, i will be in the Bemijdi area this weekend.
Maybe you would like to buy me a big mug, sir?

I know quite a bit about the lay of the land, if you will. So, obviously
i have some knowledge of what i speak. I don't know much about Bemijdi hockey politics, but i listen to your humble opinion and try and respect that..........
