The mood on this board has been a little ugly lately. Perhaps it's because there's little substantive news to report and folks are antsy for association try outs. Alternatively, it may be the negative economic news puts us collectively in a bad mood. In any event, since association try outs are more than one month away and attacking HockeyDad41, the Participation rule, Minnesota Made, Legacy, and the Icemen tournament has gotten old (and mean spirited), I propose you consider writing a short blurb about your most hilarious or embarrassing hockey moment, whether as a player, spectator or parent.
Not that I have a great story to contribute, but I'll start with the first post. One of the hockey dads on my son's hockey team is passionate about the sport and a little boisterous. This dad, I'll call him Butch to protect the innocent, has a deep, booming voice and yells suggestions and encouragement to his son--I'll call the son, Matt. One of Butch's favorite lines is, "Matt, get up!" During a game, after Butch had yelled at Matt to "get up" about 10 times and was sweating because he was so worked up about his son's play, I turned to another parent and said, "Do you ever worry that Butch is going to have a heart attack screaming at his son?" The parent quipped, "Yes, but Matt will simply peer into his dad's coffin and yell, Get up!"
I'm certain someone can top this story.

That is funny
My story is about my youngest 2 years ago as a 1st year mite. During the end of the year Jamboree he had a hard time getting to the puck. He saw that there was a puck on top of the net and while all the other kids were skating down to the opposite net, he skated over and poked the puck off of the top of the net, then proceeded to "score" Stick in the air and everything. In his mind he got a goal, and asked me if I saw him score after the game.

Great story
Very funny.
There are so many stories that come to mind. I guess the easiest is the most recent. My son was playing on one of these AAA teams in the summer and he was checked and hit the penalty box door (this could have been bad but wasn't). The door was completely unlatched so it opened wide and he just disappeared. Don't ask me why but it was really funny. The kid who checked him stopped and was looking for him, all the parents were laughing. My son got up and skated back to the bench and the entire bench was rolling around laughing.
The coach wasn't amused, he chewed the ref a good one for not checking the doors.
