Wayzata Bantam B1's

Post by nastyman »

So I've been looking through the rankings throughout the year, and Wayzata Blue has been #1 all year and they have only lost one game.

Are they really this good, and if yes why are they not playing at an A level, I mean losing one game is ridiculous. Killing teams is not fun or productive for either team playing in the game.

Now I wonder who the best players on the team are. Do they have any standouts that should play on A. Are they carried by 94's or 93's. What style of hockey do they play(speed, or hitting or etc.)

Thanks for all the info on this team, I hope they have some competition at the state tournament next weekend.

Wayzata Blue is a strong team with great speed. As a top B1 team, they can play with the smaller A teams. In District 3 they would have been competitive, but against larger associations like Wayzata A, Edina, OMGHA. They would have struggled. This is a major reason why I believe there should be a two tiered A system. This is why they have good games against teams that don't have an A team and other top B1 teams. This team is mostly second year players. Looking at this team compared to others, I believe this team developed as much as any other B1 team. They spent most of the year playing top talent, instead of looking for blowout games.

As a player on the team:
We are having a great season.

There are only 4 first years on our team due to the huge numbers at Wayzata. Some say it is the biggest hockey association in the nation.

It is a very deep team and we roll through every line, forwards and defenseman. And our goalies have switched off all year, except for tomorrow in State when one goalie was elected to play first and last games.

Head Coach of the team resigned halfway through the season.

We have had some very close games, and the team has actually gotten much better. All players have improved, some more than others. The team as a whole has improved substantially in terms of teamwork.

As for keeping up with A teams, we may be able to do it. Only with some worser teams. But there always has to be someone who's the best B1 team. The separating line has to be drawn somewhere and we're happy with what Wayzata and MN Hockey has done for us.
