Bad Injury for the Stars
John Haeg, on Danny Mattson's line, was rushed to the hospital today during the second after a brutal check to the boards. It appears he hurt his shoulder an dhe is getitng x rays now. Rumors are floating that he is done for the playoffs.
This would be a brutal injury for the Stars. Haeg is without doubt the most underrated player in the state. I do not like Stars chances if all of the talk is indeed true. he compliments Mattson well. I will be praying for him

Do you always have a tendency to stay stupid comments? Just curious why you would say something so stupid before you actually know what happened....Hoops wrote:Was it from standard late hit I've been seeing all yr? What's stupid about it ..I've seen late hits all over the place w/ kids getting hurt because of it...was it a late hit or a clean check. Did you notice I asked the question numb nuts?hiptzech wrote:Do you always have a tendency to stay stupid comments?
"they rushed him to the hospital for a broken collar bone"
was thinking the same thing!
Actually, broken collar bones can be pretty serious. Your subclavian artery carries blood from the heart through your shoulder to other parts of your body. If the collar bone breaks and pinches off your artery, you can die and not even show any signs of distress.

Haeg is a big kid, lots of speed and muscle in the ice. He was bringing the puck down to the Kennedy zone and he was checked. IT looked like a clean check to me but he fell down and he was in a lot of pain. HE skated off holding his shoulder. The parents and fans were kind of stunned, they all knew Haeg is an important part of our team. The traineer and a parent who's a doctor took a look at him but I didn't hear he was rushed to the hospital, but I could be wrong. I heard rumors that he nearly passd out a couple of times becuase of the pain during the game...
I was near where it happened and as far as I could tell it was a clean hit.
I wwatched the play go the other way after the hit and did not see him get up. I saw him go off the ice hunched over and could not tell who it was.
I do not think he was rushed to the hospital, but I am sure he went. He left with his parents.
John is an extremely strong player and will be missed, but he had a great career at AHA. It is just too bad this is how he had to end it. Someone from the team will be asked to step up and fill his shoes and the STARS will go out tomorrow and play the best they can and will beat the Hornets.

Thanks..it's kind of a pet peeve all the late hits this yr. Also thanks to the other guys for answering the question and I'm glad to hear it appeared to be a clean hit.HShockeywatcher wrote:Late hits are all too common in hockey and it is very scary to see. It was a very legit question, and one that has yet to be answered.
Hopefully the boy is okay and can return to hockey.

Nice comment!!!HardF1 wrote:Yes too bad for this kid but he really is only missing one game.
You obviously have no idea what it is like to work your tail off most of your life to have it kicked out from under you at this point. It does not matter IF this would have been his last game. He works hard and has fun playing a game he loves. Playing in the state tournament is a goal that most kids who play high school hockey have. Yes AHA has a tough road, but so what. Many teams have overcome odds and won these types of games.
Maybe you need to spend less time on these boards down-playing the players and teams and try a little harder at being human and having some compassion.
When AHA beats Edina tomorrow, then what will all the know-it-alls, like yourself, say?
I know that if AHA loses, I will be proud of the team and praise Edina for winning.

Z, well said! You support your squad faithfully, but are always respectful to your opponents and players. I am expecting a great game, Trebil is a very smart coach. Good luck to both, but I will cheer for the Hornet squad.Zamman wrote:Nice comment!!!HardF1 wrote:Yes too bad for this kid but he really is only missing one game.

You tell him Zamman! Haeg is a great kid and I'm extremely sadden to have him done with his season. He has a great amount of talent and has worked very hard to where hes at now. His sophmore year, he was 3rd-4th line! Nobody knew who he was then. Now he's starting for one of the best hockey programs in the state!hornetsnest wrote:Z, well said! A lot of people will say that if AHA loses, the loss of Haeg will be the most talk about item. But, a team is made up of more than one player. You need to be able to pick up for this person. Yes Haeg is one of the more dominant players on the team, but unlike most people know they do have some depth.
Trebil played his lines throughout the year trying different players in different combinations and I am sure has a plan that will be best for the team. Haeg played on a different line that Mattson's a some point.
If AHA goes out and plays hard, they could win and they could lose. The shoulda, woulda, coulda will always be there.

Excellent point, but Edina has played without him all year.spartanfire13 wrote:Not really - you could make the same argument for if Edina loses about BudishPapa Bergundy wrote:Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Do you think IF Edina wins tomorrow it'll be a little tainted after the Stars lose such a key player?

With all do respect to John Haeg who is fine player, he isn't Zack, Your talkin about a sure bet Mr. Hockey finalist. Please don't interpret this as a shot at AHA or Mr. Haeg, but Buddish is the type of player you just can't replace. He makes Edina's first line the size of your average nhl line..if not bigger.
