ALBANY, N.Y. — The ECAC has suspended Dartmouth sophomore defenseman Joe Stejskal for one game because of an incident in the Big Green's loss at Yale last Saturday.
As a result, Stejskal is not eligible to compete in Dartmouth's next contest versus Cornell on Friday.
Stejskal was cited for what was deemed a cheap hit on Yale forward Sean Backman with 20 seconds remaining in the game, right after Backman had scored an empty-net goal to seal the Bulldogs' 3-1 win. The played ignited a brawl, that led to 46 minutes in penalties, none of which, however, were called on Stejskal.
Stejskal, who leads the team in goal scoring for a defenseman, scored his seventh of the season against Yale on Saturday, the team's only goal of the game. That goal broke a drought of 15 games without one.
Stejskal is an NHL Draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens.
still must be leaving his feet to make hits?
Leading the team for Goals by a Defenseman though, nice job on that though!!
Maybe a little more to it than that, but we'll never know. Joe's a solid kid and a solid player. Wouldn't be the first guy to run someone over out of frustration. I'm sure he'll be back soon and will continue to play tough.

You can view the hit on you-tube. It was a clean check. The kid from Yale could have shot the puck much earlier at the open net, but he chose to carry it almost all the way to the net before he shot. Joe as usual, was just busting his butt trying to catch the kid. He caught him right at the edge of the crease and his momentum just took the kid into the boards.
There was no injuy to the Yale player. In fact, he should have been suspended for crosschecking Joe across the back of his neck after the play.

Check was a little late, at the same time physics places a guy going mach 10 on a collision course with another guy going mach 10 with limited space to maneuver. Not a cheap hit, but rather the incidental roughness that sometimes accompanies the game. The video doesn't show the Yale kid delivering a cheap shot to the back of Stejskal's neck/helmet area. Where is the suspension for that?

The video does actually pick up the hit right at the very end but to notice it you'd have to watch the last 2 seconds very closely. The hit might have been a little late but was nothing worth the suspension but he's a smart kid who will bounce back from this
