12a American Region ~ D1, D2, D3 & D6
Great mix of teams that could be meeting in Stillwater. Some teams seem to be heating up at the right time. Moundsview knocked off top ranked Lakeville and Burnsville got nipped again. I look at the Highlands and NSP and throw in Wayzata with Edina and its going to be a great weekend.

Looks like Edina is definitely the class of D6. Burnsville has been getting 'nipped' by some good teams. EP is back on the winning track, can't beat E Green in league play but did beat them in a tournament didn't they? But EP has Burnsville's number?
NSP beat MV and Wayzata back to back last week to even up League 2, then got beat by Highland over the weekend. Highland vs. MV tonight will be a good one. Highland has one loss in league play, MV, NSP, and Wayzata all have two. Yes, this should be a good tournament--whoever makes it to St. Croix will really have to earn a spot to go to state.

Having seen the big 3 in D6 up close along with Lakeville and getting to see Wayzata, I'm not so sure that Edina is the team to beat. They really only have one line that scores, and a good defense. If Edina double-shifts the first line and they don't get hurt or tired, they could walk away with it. But Edina isn't real big overall and can be pushed around a little.
EP's defense is almost as good, their first line is good, but they have three lines that score. Even Burnsville is deeper than Edina up front, not as good behind it. Wayzata also seems deeper and is about as fast as Edina.
I'll take Eden Prairie to win in this region. We haven'treally seen a lot of those D2 schools, but if they're beating Wayzata, they must be pretty good.

Well, we haven't played Burnsville yet, but we've played Edina Green, Eden Prairie and now Wayzata. They're all real good.
I'm not sure I'd agree that Edina Green is one line - those other kids are real good, too. I will testify on how deep Eden Prairie and Wayzata are. I'll take our sister squad, but wouldn't be surprised to see Wayzata or EP win as well.

League 2 'Big 4' matchups--there was an unbalanced schedule, with D2 plus Highland playing each other twice and playing the D3 teams plus Washburn once, and vice-versa:
NSP split with MV
NSP beat Wayzata
MV beat Wayzata
Highland beat MV (and play again tonight)
Wayzata beat Highland
Highland beat and tied NSP
So there's no clear favorite here going into the League tournament, and it should be fun. Plus don't count out WBL or maybe even OMG or Orono.
