G. Rapids @ Hibbing 2/10

Post by gophers101 »

Its time for the IRC rivalry re-match. This should be a very high paced and exciting game. The key for the Jackets will be Nate Tromp. How solid will he play, he's been a little shaky lately but looked good with the minimal shots he got against Greenway. Underwood will definately have to be on his game. I'm looking foward to a good game!

Rapids is 1-8-1 when giving up 3 or more goals. Hibbing hasn't been scoring a ton lately, and Underwood has allowed 1 or less in 5 of his last 6 games. I think this will be a close game, but Rapids will come out on top.

Rapids sweep the Jackets win in a close game. 4-2 EN. Are the thunder hawks bringing the chicken?

The last two losses for Hibbing could have been easily avoided if Decenzo would have played his lines right. If he chooses to do so this Tuesday, Hibbing won't have a problem taking care of business.

I hope the game isn't cancelled tomorrow. It shouldn't be unless school is out but it's not suppose to be to bad on the range. I'm looking foward to this huge IRC game.

I'm thinkin the losses to Edina, Eden Prairie, Elk River, Jefferson, East, etc. is going to pay dividends down the stretch.
It's the time of year for the Indians to roll.

2-0 Rapids wins. Hibbing 42 shots GR 21. Underwood played on his head I give him tons of credit. For Hibbing they couldn't score. The game is simple, you have to score to win and that didn't happen. Rapids sweeps the season series and pretty much ends Hibbing's chance at and IRC title.

Definitely a great game, and you're right...you have to score to win and Hibbing just couldn't pull it off tonight. Underwood did a great job of covering the nets so he gets a ton of credit. Hibbing for sure outshot them but unfortunately that doesn't count on the scoreboard. Tromp also did a great job, he's young but not too shabby! Virginia should be an interesting one...I hope Hibbing can stick it to em' cause they're gonna need that win.

Well first off my hat goes off to AJ Underwood for playing a hell of a game. Then there were some things that I noticed on Hibbing's side.

1. They are trying to be way to fancy moving the puck up ice or when they are down low in the offensive zone.

2. On the powerplay they need to get more shots from the point. The 2 shots they took from the point both rang off the pipe. Alos when they're on the powerplay they are trying to do way to much when they bring the puck in more toward the net.

3.Goaltending needs to step it up down the stretch here. I'm not saying that its bad but there were a few close ones last night that could have been easily put in.

4. I'm not sure who this new coach is that they got, but ever since he joined the Bluejackets, they have been in a slump. Barely beat Denfeld, lost to Rapids twice, lost to Falls, and beat Greenway by 1. Something needs to be done if they wanna win

5.(The most important one) You have to SCORE to win!

Hopefully they can step it up down the stretch here and get some wins. Maybe they should switch up the lines to what they were in the beginning of the season to get some scoring done. Well BIG GAME on the 17th so they better bring their A game.

The new coach is Clafton from Grand Rapids. And the powerplay was way to conservative with the puck. Rarely did they try a give and go out of the corner or drive hard through the seam to the net. They did pass up some shots but 42 is one of there highest totals this year. I guess if your gonna lose, lose now and play your best hockey heading into the playoffs.

no he sits in the stands now, I have no clue what he does but in Hibbing I see him sitting in the press box. Probably takes notes or something.

Does anybody have some background info on Clafton. Obviously he must be related to the Claftons that played for Rapids.

Son of Dan who's the owner of the Crunch. Arrogant wannabe who washed out in the low level minors and walks around like he's the second coming is what I know of him. Hibbing can keep him.

Well after hearing that Hibbing should send him packing and put Pete Decenzo back on the bench. It seems like ever since Clafton has been on the bench Hibbing has been playing like crap. I dont see why Hibbing would want someone(Clafton) of that nature.

Just an opinion, maybe he's a great guy with all the knowledge in the world. But you guys can still have him. :) We're pretty set with our assistants over here in Anderson, Klatt, Peart and Pierce.

From what I hear in Hibbing Clafton is a jerk. He know's his hockey but is a total arrogant jerk. I wish ole Pete was still coaching because he was fiery and brought a lot of passion to the team. And he knew his stuff.
