Duluth East Won their 14th game of the year the other day. With that win the Greyhounds as a program since 1949 secure the programs 56th consecutive winning season.

Is this the longest winning season streak in boys hockey and other sports in MN High School Sports?/ What about around the USA for high school sports?

Yeah, I noticed that. At the Century game I picked up a program and noticed their worst season was 14-12, aside from that they usually are at worst around a .750 team. Pretty solid program. Should get even more solid in the next couple years going to two schools.

Duluth Central will be closing shortly. The students from each are being split roughly evenly between Denfeld and the new east high school, which may or may not keep the same name (one would hope so; I don't understand why they'd keep one name and not another, and it'd save them money on jerseys, etc.).

I doubt the end of Central will change the balance of hockey power much in the region, it'll probably be slightly beneficial to each school, but not significiantly. The good thing about it is that it'll force Denfeld back up to AA, and end East's opt-up status, giving the north another AA team and hopefully putting some meaning back into the intra-Duluth games.

The names, colors, distribution of students, boundaries and which graduating class will start school at the new schools are all things that have yet to be decided. Hopefully they come out with all that information soon.

Very impressive, and they have always played a tough schedule. Thats a program with rich history, and every time they enter an arena they can hold their heads high and know the team they go up against is intimidated by the sheer majesty of stats like 56 winning seasons.

When is Central scheduled to close? I've heard much about this move, but have never heard when. I know they have to do some work on some of the other buildings first - East is moving to a current junior high building.

Officially the current freshmen will be the first graduating class. Apparently the city can save buko bucks if they get it all done one year earlier. Only time will tell at this point.
