What are we accomplishing?

Post by justwalksouthwestward »

I often go on this website to check the scores of recent games and also to find out what big games are coming up. But lately I've been very reluctant because all I am seeing is schools and, even worse, high school KIDS being bashed. I find it very sad to see kids who have been suspended/kicked off by their teams being torn apart by people who don't even know the whole situation. I am not defending the kids who break rules, but come on. There are many, many kids who make mistakes that dont get caught. Its sad that they would put the short time they have to play these games in danger, but kids are kids and mistakes will be made. It is just absolutely wrong that a kid who gets caught doing something in high school is put on trial on this website. And its not even just the kids getting in trouble, often there are kids who dont have a good game or season who just get blasted on this website. What does it accomplish? Is it really necesary?

I grew up loving to go to games and once, many many years ago, was able to play in some. But I think that this site has taken it past fun and it has to stop. Rivalries are awesome! Igrew up loving to hate teams like Edina/ Jefferson/ Hill because they were always winning. It was a blast to go to those games and root for the underdog. Hockey is a great sport! I encourage posting scores/ranking/predictions. But please these kids are just teenagers. We all did things that were bad those days. Please keep these kids off these posts. Its the right thing to do.

The administrators do a good job of cleaning that stuff up.

You see something that looks inappropriate, PM Lee or Mitch.

We live in some sad times but these kids are, to a degree, public figures. This doesn't make it right but sadly there are those who relish dirty laundry.

First of all I would agree that the post was right on..... but lets take a look at what causes people to lose focus!

FANTATICS=fans...... and as we all know fanatical people dont logically think all the time. Matter of fact these are fanatics that want to make excuses for kids, or are are fanatics who are exremely hard on the kids. I dont care what sport it is. Take Plex Burress.... some fans want him hung, and thrown out, others say give him a chance. As long as you have fantatical passion your going to have vast difference of opinnions which can hurt feelings and cause people to say things they normally wouldn't. But due to the fantical investment they tend to not be logical or even within normal thought patterns. Thus, when kids make poor choices it automatically lights the fuse of anger, hurt, excitment etc..... and thus they want to exhale their thoughts on boards such as this!

Im not saying its right.... Im just saying its what Fans do... because after all they are fanatics!
