should be a good rivalry game
faribault isn't the same team they were last year, they have certainly improved
owatonna from what i've heard is still solid even with the loss of a few key goal-scoring seniors

Faribault at Owatonna

Post by Frozen Water »

Faribault will be a slight favorite with Owatonna's top defenseman out. I'm guessing both teams will play a lot of players since this game does not count in the Big Nine Standings

I haven't seen much of Owatonna but I did see Faribault play last week against austin. Not much of a game besides Faribault putting up 83 shots. What was alarming is the fact that Faribault has nobody that can truly put the puck away. They have a serious problem doing this. Austin hung in there all the way through mid 3rd period despite getting peppered with shots. If Faribault can't put the puck away against austin (83shots) I don't know how they are going to fare against a descent opponent with only 25 to 35 shots.

i agree with hockeyblitz, they need to find a way to finish. i watched them play at waseca and put up 50 some shot and only scored 7 times when they should have scored about 15. i think they look like a very solid team and like their potential but need to put the puck away.

as for tonight, i dont know much about owatonna but i take faribo in a 4-1 victory.

Maybe the reason they couldnt put the puck awy was because of that brick wall austin has in net?

faribault scores with 9 seconds remaining in the 1st and 22 seconds into the 2nd to take a 2-1 lead

Owatonna first of the game
Faribault came back and scored with 9 seconds remaining in the first and scored again on the first shift in the second period
They held onto the 2-1 lead till about 5 minutes left in the game and owatonna scored to tie it up and scored again about 3 shifts later
Final Score: Owatonna 3 - Faribault 2

Faribault at Owatonna

Owatonna 3
Faribault 2
Shots 24-12 in favor of Owatonna
*Overall I thought it was a sloppy game. Faribault didn't have as many quality scoring chances, but passed the puck much better. Seemed like the better Owatonna players tried to do everything themselves (instead of passing to the open man). JMO
