Some Have Moved On From MN Hockey
I offered my resignation as DD of D16 yesterday, June 30th.
Re: Some Have Moved On From MN Hockey
I am sorry to note that you are moving on, but appreciate your service on the board over the years. It is often thankless work that requires a lot of time and effort. Best wishes as you move on to your next adventures.elliott70 wrote:I offered my resignation as DD of D16 yesterday, June 30th.

They were not happy with me regarding my letter to Lets Play Hockey and my stance against them on one-site as well as several other things. A non-agenda item was reaised in teh middle of the meeting where I was chastised by the executive board and told I had to apologize to certain members of the ex board. Several board members spoke against what was happening - they cleared the room of everyone but board members (I was excused from the room also).
After a half hour debate apparently about me, they brought me back in and repeated the fact they were upset with me and not supporting their action regarding one-site.
I told them I would not apologize to Jerry DeMeo, Dennis Green or Dave Bakke. I told them AI had apologized to any other person I think I may have insulted during this fiasco. I said DeMeo had betrayed me and the people he wsa representing, that Bakke ahd called me a liar during th ecourse of a MN Hockey meeting and had not apologized and that I would never have any faith in him as it was already shaken by his lack of leadership, and told Dennis Green that he (Green) should resign.
None of them had any rebuttal to what I said.
is there something we need to know about going on with MN Hockey?
Mn Hockey re-elects (self-perpetuates its leadership by having the board (other than 12 people elected by youth hockey - out of 27) elect the president, VP and others.
I brought forth the idea that this was wrong - the assn should elect these people. I brought forth the idea that fees (player and tourneys) should be reduced as MH has in excess of $750,000 in the bank.
I brought forth the idea that we should (and I did) argue with USA Hockey about their fee increase (tourney increase for this year and player increase for next year).
MN Hockey exec board continues to do things to make themselves look good in the eyes of USA Hockey. Not that all that has been done is bad but at what cost and for what gain to the players and local assn of MN Hockey?
Yes, people need to be wary of the Exec Board and to push for change.
Thanks.

Elliott.......I've read your posts for years......always relevant and classy.
Your actions are gutsy. It's sad that when you disagree with the leadership in hockey, whether its at the association, district, state or national level, too often the response is what you encountered.
I think Puckguy19 said it best " Too bad ego trumps doing the right thing."
You know the process....share with us what we can collectively do to empower you and change things!

Not quite the epic of William Wallace.
Ironic though, as I have traced my ancestry to an Elliott in Scotland, that according to legend, was in battle with the Scots and William Wallace against the English.

I have sent it to the leaders of D16.
To the Dsitrict 16 assoications I will do what is needed.
To the executive board of MN Hockey as it currently is made up and currently elected I will do nothing but continue to act to assure the players, coaches and leaders of the 'real' MN hockey are treated properly.

This is why there are (should be) term limits in all high power positions.elliott70 wrote:I told them I would not send a resignation to them (the MN Board - Exec Board). Can't Never Tried wrote:Geez they won't even let you quitelliott70 wrote: I have 15 responses from D16 leaders denying my request.![]()

To make sure that the elected officials represent the want of the membership, and not the Knights of the Round Table.

Well I hope you reconsider, We need a strong voice even if it is not to liking of these higher ups. You are dead right on three you mentioned , and sometimes you call as you see them to get it across. they have been around WAY to long,,
So I take it you did not get VP, who out there got it, and please dont tell me its great 15 dd,,,, but he would fit the mold quite well for the" good ole boys"
DISTRICT 16 DONT LET HIM GO

Elliott,
It is too bad that MH can't recognize your great leadership. You have set a high standard by making yourself available to the membership, listening to all viewpoints, and giving honest feedback.
This is obviously not what MH uppers want. Case in point- I didn't receive any answers or even acknowledgement to my questions to them about the one-site tournament. In contrast, you have answered every pm from me down to the most trivial comment.
Thank you!!

Great Service
These bumbs act like our elected Federal officials and assume they are not accountable to their constituents after taking office. Elliot thanks for representing District 16 and always being accountable to the people you serve. Great leaders have always and will always serve first, that will never change. Stay true and the rest of the "stuff" will take care of itself. There is always friction when honest folks bump into self interest, thanks for putting some heat and shining the light on some very questionable characters. These guys you mentioned ARE NOT leaders that is a fact.
