Early end to season

Let's say you are on a team that is not very good and is in a very good district and your team fails to even make the district playoffs. I for one think it is rediculous to have a season end in JANUARY. Does anyone else see a problem with this? Also I noticed that B2 and C teams seasons go into march almost certainly because they only have a district tournament, and they dont have state or regionals. In this case do you think it is better to play b2 rather than b1, if your b1 team's season ends in january?

If that were to happen, there are many tournaments scheduled to pick from.

Just because a district schedule ends, doesn't mean the season has too.

You could always strech out the season with another tournament.

If the team is struggling most parents (sometimes even players) are ready for the season to be done as early as possible. Districts are in the middle of February so I don't know why your team is done so early. Along with tournaments, there are other teams that are in the same boat as you. Schedule games with them throughout February.

I thought once your district play is completed you cannot play as a team, usa hockey insurance doesn't cover it anymore does it?

It's been a while on this but elliott will know for sure, I think the Accociations want to limit there risk after District play is done and collect Jerseys with the district patches etc.
But your insurance is good for a year.
One point though is your team needs that red card to be covered, and to get that card you need an affiliation with a assoc. or District that will basically say they're with us.

A lot of these off season teams, and other AAA teams are independent...you are basically own your own.

A registered USA team cannot play a non registered team...if they do they will yank your card.

Mn Hockey season is over once the last State tournament youth game is played. Your local teams can scrimmage and do tournaments up to that point. If you didn't have alot of wins and missed playoffs, look for a tournament those weekends. The good teams will not be there, or go across the border to the east.

Your insurance is in effect until August 31, 2008.
If a team is not doing anything it is becasue of the local association.

After the state tournament, you can re-roster.

If you have some A team players, some B-1, some B2, that want to go play the neighboring assocaition team or to a sanctioned tournament that can be done.

Just be sure to go through your DD and your local assn.

Elliot- I'm not saying. I'm just saying. Can a Minnesota made team play a Squirt team once the season is over? I was asking some buddies if they want to scrimmage. They are scared there will be penalties handed out.

Once the state tournament is over, a team can play a non-sanctioned team; however, they cannot say or repersent their association in any way, including wearing of uniforms or equipment, payment of ice or refs by a team or associaiton account. They will not be covered by insurance.

They can play a sanctioned team with the old or new roster.

I would ecourage them to play, but the coaches, managers may want to obtain some type of security that they are held harmless. Parents would want to check their health coverage, mostly for catastrophic coverage, limits.

I should probably not comment on pro hockey or college hockey either since I don't have kids playing at that level? Correct? That is your rational, if I am not mistaken
