Best Pizza?
After having one of the worst pizzas of my life yesterday, it made me reflective toward some of the bext I've had. Now, I realize that there are those from all over the state here, and as a result, we likely won't be able to come to a consensus, but what are the pizza joints people prefer?
Me being an Eastsider, I've always been partial to Savoy's (Norm Coleman's dad was fond of their parking lot... do your own research if you're unaware of that story). My mom always dragged us out to Angelo's on White Bear Ave. when I was a kid. It's just about a block away from Aldrich for the next time any of you are in the area for a game. It's good, but given the choice, I'll always take Savoy.

When it comes to regular thin crust pizza I like Angeno's house special pizza, and Broadway's (original sauce recipe ) house or primo.
But if you like a deep dish type pie with a top and bottom crust, try Serums in Anoka, it is absolutely fantastic takes about 45 min. to make. and one or two slices and your done, plan on taking some home with you.
Out of town there always seems to be a Sammy's somewhere and there ok too.
What's that place in Duluth on the waterfront? If I got my mind straight, there was a place down there that was good??
I've never tried Frankie's Chicago style, but the adds I get look good

Best anywhere? BJ's Chicago Pizzaria in Lahaina, Maui.
Best in the Duluth area? Sammy's. Pizza Luce is also tasty. Shamrock Bar in Superior. And, we still like Godfather's Pizza (only one left in this area).
Lee's Pizza west of downtown Duluth is another great choice. It's patterned after the old Mr Frank's West pizza. Since the owner of Frank's is now the owner of Lee's, this isn't a surprise. Great sausage pizza, about two bucks cheaper than Sammy's for similar size.
We tried Punch Neapolitan in St Paul a few years ago based on the readers choice at City Pages and found it disappointing. Haven't tried any others down there in the Cities.
Anyone remember Rocky Rococo?

Up north I have to give the edge to a little place called the Rhombus House of Pizza in Mentor. They have a couple of other locations, TRF and GF.
For the metro I am a fan of Pizza Luce.
Best I have every had is Moose's Tooth Pizza in Anchorage, AK. They make their own adult beverages which are excellent as well as a home brew of Root Beer and Cream Soda. It is the only pizza joint I have been to that you have to wait for a table on a monday at 3 in the afternoon.

Oh... I don't know. I don't end up in Medina that often (unless Mrs. Govs is dragging me through to go to her sister's house in Greenfield).Wild4hockey wrote:MedinaGovs93 wrote:Which Jimmy's? Maybe I'll check it out at some point.

I can handle most anything that isnt frozen but strongly dislike pizza cut in squares. It is a PIE afterall.
Lee, we got a Rocky Rococo right down the road but they cut it in squares.
Savoy is the best I've had in the Mpls/St Paul area but man they need a better parking set up. That alone is the largest reason why we dont go there much.
The old Broadway on Broadway would be runner up. Pizza buffets rule!
I think I know what Im having for dinner now.
Might even to try that Serums in Anoka that CNT reccomends. Sounds good.

I agree that Cosetta's is very good pizza, but I always wonder if there isn't something subconsciously at play with that...AngusYoung wrote:Cosetta's - lock it up.

Not too many people go out of their way to go there, so if you're at Cosetta's, you're doing something cool... you're going to a game, a concert, visiting a sick relative in the hospital... you know, cool stuff. I think it may make the pizza taste better.
Of course, it's been around much longer than the X, so maybe it really is that good.

I can. It's all that gets eaten in St. Schmo...causing the change of pace pizza to be Dominos.Goldy Gopher wrote:Can't argue with the St. Cloud Area.Lucia4President wrote:St Cloud area- Gary's

I love Sammy's, although it's not very filling. Unless you slay the lunch buffet for 6 bucks.
