Steve Estep

Post by pipes3030 »

I was talking to some parents from SPA yesterday at the Blake game, and found out that junior goalie, Steve Estep, who started last year as a sophmore, has been battling abdominal pain due to a benign tumor near his stomach. They said he is putting off surgery till the end of the season, but seems to be unable to play in every game due to the pain, and just wants to stay with the team. Just wanted to wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season, and hope everything turns out ok.

That's unbelievable. I played baseball with steve for a couple years in woodbury and am friends with him but haven't talked to him in a while and had no idea. Kid's got a lot of heart trying to play through that type of pain. I hope everything turns out well

Not that too many people care, but i know Komada said he knew him, so i thought i would just share that steve underwent surgery today to remove the tomur, and will be in the hospital for the next couple days

Good luck to Steve. Hopefully he will be able to play again, but, more importantly, hopefully he has a long and healthy life, with or without playing hockey.

Pipes, I can't believe you actually got to talk to SPA parents without them complaining about the refs or starting a fight with the opposition. Congrats to you. Or did they try to pick a fight with you and the Estep information just slipped out?

Trust me, there was plennnnnnnnnty of complaining going on, lucky for me I know a couple of them and they were nice enough to cool down for a few minutes. But I wouldn't go try to talk to falvey's dad down in the corner...he will fight you.

Not to thread jack, but what exactly has happened at SPA? Bad parents? Players? I used to play there several years ago, but obviously never under Norwich. I've since moved out of state, so I've been out of the loop a little bit. Oh, and best wishes to Steve Estep as well.

Pipes may need to chime in here as it seems like he has seen some of their games, but it looks as if SPA's program is growing under Norwich. Two years ago they had 12 or 13 skaters, last year they had 20 or so, this year they had 40. Their stats on Point Streak look like they need a goalie who can stop more pucks and somebody to score (I know, this is a profound statement). Nobody is going to win many games with the leading scorer at only 19 points while giving up more than four goals a game and stopping less than 90% of the shots (although the stats are probably not complete). Check out this site stickwick. It's probably not complete because most coaches didn't use point streak for the whole season, but it's some way to follow your old school.

sorry, I've only seen a couple games (Blake and Procidence) so I don't know too much about any problems with Norwich, but I'd start a new thead if u guys want to complain about any issues at spa
