tri metro conference?
anyone think the saints/minnehaha/providence can take down breck/blake?
Seen the Saints and Breck this year - haven't seen Blake yet. No f'n way do the Saints make a dent in Breck - probably not Blake either.
I love the Saints - probably my #2 team behind Johnson - but they just don't have the guns. They play hard, their coach is one of the best guys you'll ever meet and he has them playing the right way from what I can tell, but the talent just isn't there.
I'll still withhold judgment on Blake for now, but I see Breck as the cream of that crop.

Tri-Metro
Don't put all your money on Providence. I agree it is hard to roll only 2 lines against top competition, time will tell. They do have a pretty solid goalie in Taffe though. I think the Saints tied Blake late last year which was a huge game for them but it will be tough on them as well.
Wait until next year when Johnson and Como join the Tri-Metro, this will make for a great battle for 3rd place in the conference. In reality, Breck and Blake are the favorites year in and out for first and second. Conference will start soon.

Re: Tri-Metro
Did they finally let them in? I hadn't heard that. I know they tried to get in 2 years ago, but the conference turned them down. That is outstanding news if it's true.BlueLiner wrote:

Well that is great news. It's certainly not the most elite conference, but it'll sure beat having to piece together a schedule as independent teams (although, I think both Johnson & Como already play the Saints, Minnehaha, and SPA anyway) . It'll be nice having a crack at some upper-tier teams like Breck & Blake again.
ChrisK and I will wave the St. Paul banner at the games next season.

Yeah, it was me. I swiped it from the Hill-Murray website, but I thought it was so great with the Civic Center, clear boards, and Cooperalls, the world should see it (it didn't hurt that it was Governors win either).MNHighSchoolHockeyGuy wrote:Govs are you the one that put the Johnson vs Hill video up on youtube?
It pained me to have to add the credit for the Pioneers on the description though.

Not this year, none of them have the talent to beat these two teams once let alone twice.defenseman7 wrote:anyone think the saints/minnehaha/providence can take down breck/blake?

the saints one line has about 90% of the goals. stop that line you stop them.
spa is not very good at all, only falvey and the twins are worth any.
blake and breck seem to be back to their old selves
and providence will probably take third behind those two.
as for minnehaha should be a battle between them and providence for that number 3 slot.

I saw part of the Breck/Mahtomedi game and it looks like Breck has a ways to go. They are weak on defense and that translated to not getting the puck out of the zone. A couple of their D seem to be afraid of taking any hit whatsoever, even from smaller guys.
They have some forwards that can really skate but seem to have some attitude issues.
Minnehaha may be the sleeper in the group, especially if their goalie gets hot during a couple games. I haven't seen Providence yet.

Sorry, but MA is not so hot. Sort of like the old Gopher football team that won some easy games in the preseason. They were ranked? Hard to believe. They play two lines, and one is pretty darn fun to watch. However, Blake crushed them 7-1 and Breck is better than Blake. No offense to Mpls. West, but M.A. has lost to them twice, and has no business losing to this team if they are to be considered a threat in the Tri-Metro. The goalie situation was a great story early on, the bad news is that they have struggled at that position in recent games and there seems to be no indication that it will get any better when playing the better teams.pucker52 wrote:I saw part of the Breck/Mahtomedi game and it looks like Breck has a ways to go. pucks/sticks wrote:They did. I'm dumbfounded. I saw Breck beat STA this season, and I saw the Saints lose to Johnson... I saw nothing that would've have given me the slightest idea that could happen.Govs93 wrote:Seen the Saints and Breck this year - haven't seen Blake yet. I guess the Saints not only put a dent in them but I heard they may have beat them tonight!
I guess that's why they play the games.

Wow what happened in this game? Seems to me that one of the Breck dads should have kept his mouth shut.

Breck was without Borer and Ziedler due to injury and one of the captains got a horrible checking from behind call. (Which led to the bench penatly when the ref refused to go to the Mustang bench and explain it to the coach)
No question Breck was flat and the Saints played one heck of a good game and they deserved to win. Congrats!
The Tri Metro is going to be closer than many expected this year as no one team looks to be able to dominate, including Breck and Blake. That should make for some good hockey the next few weeks leading to sections... which also seem to be up in the air!
