The St. Cloud Red and Anoka play in the D10 Peewee B1 league. They are in a virtual tie for third, but so near the top that the top that at this point that each could be considered leading that 18 team conference. Anoka beat the Red 4-3 just before Christmas to hold bragging rights. Anoka has also won or tied their last eight games.
Grand Rapids is the same team from the Cloquet Tourney. I am impressed with their win over La Cresent. Roseau and Bemidji are in D16. Roseau is unbeaten and near the top. Bemidji is struggling. The Moorhead team entered should be the Moorhead Black B1. They are out of D15 and are dominating there. Wayzata Blue maybe the defending state peewee B1 champion (if not they are the runner-up). They have just played a tough grinding Bloomington Tourney taking third. They have played six games in the last seven days, beating Lakeville South Crimson 8-0, Andover 5-1, Alaska 6-0, Buffalo 10-0, and Jefferson 5-1(third place game). Their lone loss was to Chaska 4-3 in the Semifinals (I saw the end of this game, and it was bitter. It is the only peewee game that I have seen this year which almost turned into a fight). The Blue are one of three Wayzata teams in the top 5 of the D3 B1 league.
This is going to be one great tourney. The are three ranked teams in the tourney, but to me the more important thing is that there are top teams from six districts (D10 with two, D12 with one, D15 with one, D16 with one, D8 with one, D3 with one).
St. Cloud Red and Grand Rapids should be a tough game. Roseau will be tested especially since they open with Wayzata. But I believe Wayzata Blue should come out on top on this side.
On the other side, Bemidji will really struggle here. The real wild card is either Moorhead or Lakeville North. The winner of this game could come out to challenge for the championship. But I like Anoka. Anoka will have an easier first game and should be fresher especially since the semifinals games are scheduled later on Saturday. Each game is an hour and 45 minutes long. Depending on how they clean ice, that second successive period can be a grind. Wayzata Blue should take the title. They probably are still upset over losing to Chaska in the Bloomington Tourney. But as I always say, this is peewee hockey. Who knows?

tourney
Wayzata looked real good beating roseau 6-0, st cloud 3-1, and anoka in champ game 3-1 i believe. not sure who took 3rd between moorhead and st cloud or the cons game between rapids and lakeville. Wayzata was by far the best team i have seen this year at the pb1 level. After them everybody looked pretty even except for bemidji.
