GR vs Jefferson 1-5-08
Thoughts? Personally, I believe the Indians will step up and take it to the baby blue. Guessing that Underwood will get the nod in goal and have another stellar game against a quality opponent. Rapids big game players(Roy, Sparen, Palki, Prokop, Rendle, Kosak & Moore)will rise to the occasion and get after it. Should be a dandy at the BIG. Gonna call it 4-3 Rapids in a tough battle.
Character is who you are when no one is watching
Jags vs. 'Hawks
Gotta go with the Jags at home, 4-2

jags 5-3
I think normally this could be closer, but for some reason every time I see those northern teams play at BIG they get spooked and dont play their best. (Morhead is a great example)
Also, Jefferson is hot with a big performance in Grand Forks
Also, NEVER underestimate Grand Rapids, year in and year out they impress me with some of the best hockey around even when they lack the talent. Great team players, you can just tell they love to play the game.

They don't have to win this game to be a bonafide contender. Its way to early in the season to put that much importance on a game. They do need to compete hard, get better, and learn something about themselves in the process. There are alot of seniors on this teamwho repsect each other and this gives them an edge as they progress towards post season.

Agree. Ridiculous to say this game determines whether or not GR is a contender. They tied CEC at home and played Edina to a 3-2 score in their barn. Rapids has already proved they'll be very tough in sections. There are probably 5 teams in 7AA that could win it. That won't change after this game, it won't change in 3 weeks, it will be the same when the seeding meeting comes out with the brackets. No one team in 7AA has established themselves as THE team to beat.archway Sign wrote:They don't have to win this game to be a bonafide contender. There is a big difference between playing quality teams close and beating them. At some point Rapids is going to have be on the other side of one goal games. To learn how to win close games against good teams is indication of a team's confidence. If you continue to lose close games, the mental aspect of the game can be a huge burden. You start wondering how am I going to lose this one? The confidence of a team cannot be underestimated. Rapids will be a tough team at tournament time, but their chance of winning it in Section 7AA is more problematic if they don't start winning the close ones.

I've never known him to rhyme though, so it might be slappy....

Re: post 9074
Actually, Cuda is rather heartfelt on who to pick in this one due to having family on both sides. These GR-Jefferson tilts are real anxiety for the family...Neutron 14 wrote:I'm currently channeling Cuda and he's thinking 5 - 2 baby blue.

If last year is any indication they should be fine...Lost close game to Edina then beat them...Lost to Ep and even lost to East...Then beat East in the Semi's...Learning how to win those games sometimes means you lose close ones...Playing the best helps you learn what you need to work on...they Beat Jeffereson but every at that time said it was because Jefferson was down...a down and back trip into someone elses palace is very difficult...it will show the kind of character they have which is as important as the win.
