I've heard and read all the hype about Ness. He is an outstanding player. That said, after watching the Edina Classic, I'm of opinion that the best player in the state is Budish. He's a beast. All the skills of a smaller player wrapped up in a giant's body. Tough to handle.

Ness shut down Pat White, he could shut down Budish too.

Suzy...three out of four are good picks..the third one down would struggle to make Roseau's second line or Edina's third line....when are you going to stop with the shameless plugs for your buddies brother.

Add Landman and Oliver from Roseau
Add Gleason from Edina
Add Rush from EP
Add Coatta from Tonka
Just from the teams you have listed.

Then you have to look at players from Hill, BSM, AHA and the other privates. Then look North and South and to class A and then realize this list will get very long.

I agree and would hate to have to play against a kid who was this big and fast. Hope the Gophs land him.

Talked to an Edina JV parent the night of the GR game and he told me Budish verbally comitted to the U. Any truth to the rumor?

I'm more familiar with East metro teams. A few kids I have noticed... Mueller-Roseville, Brown-Rosemount, Goff and Eddy-Woodbury all seem to have good upside.

Team game dude. Ness and White weren't out there one on one playing 3 bar.

WOW.....Please tell me that was a joke?...you ask the guys he played with in Elite's what they think....He could play on most to all teams 1st lines ....so if Lehrke couldn't make 2nd line on Roseau....that means Ravendalen coudlnt even make the team...pretty sad if you ask me ....

Suzy Recruit...Keep GRASPING and Shamelessly Plugging MAYBE the U of M will call I doubt UND will...that's the two I hear he's holding out for. Already has SCSU and maybe Mankato in the bag but is looking for bigger and better. I don't see it coming though.

Sorry to say he's not in the UPPER Echelon. Guys like Ness, Landman, Budish, and many more ARE better.

Prolly the dumbest comment on this board. Lehrke would be the best forward on Roseau and the second or third overall player behind Ness and maybe Lee

'

Lehrke is better than Landman...granted the two play a different style game.
My question is where does CC fall into the mix are they in with the UND,UofM or the MN State, St. Cloud

At some point UHL, you are going to have to admit how good of he player he is, you are one of the few who can't see or just flat out won't admit that he's a great all around player coming out of a non-traditional hockey town.

that stats dont lie from the summer, fall, or the winter

According to the Geodent site that ranks the HS players by grade and class Zach Lehrke is the 15th ranked senior forward in Class A. Those are scouts creating those rankings not PR fans. Now take into consideration the guys ahead of him in that list then take a look at the class AA list and you get the picture....Top fifteen Class A forward GOOD but not Great. Now go back to the porch.

Here you go take a look for yourself...they've been pretty accurate and consistent since they started this...these guys do a pretty good job.

http://www.geocities.com/dent0110 Then go to Players and pick the list you want to look at.

I think you might be putting a little too much stock in those players rankings. I have heard before, and may be incorrect, but those rankings are not consistent with a broader spectum of scouts and hockey pundits, but more of a sampling of a very select few. I think many would differ as to how some of these players are ranked - most are deserving to be listed, but the order in how they are ranked is questionnable.

If you know the players, there is plenty of inconsistency. Compare players, players committed to colleges, USA Hockey experience, USHL draft rank, etc.

The site says that it's based on the opinions of a handful of high school scouts. What does that mean? Who are those scouts?

Don't get me wrong, there are solid names on the list. I would question the rankings of many.

Good college site to look at:

Lehrke is a top echelon player who deserves some credit for sticking with the Park Rapids program instead of being lured by the recruiters out of Warroad. Unfortunately, many(like formerRam) will continually knock him due to the strength of schedule his team plays. Nothing he can do about that except continue to shoot the lights out and lead his team any way he can to quiet the chirpers in the "peanut gallery". Go Zach!

A great example to my point is on senior rankings. Jake Gardiner is not the 5th best senior D in high school hockey. He played on the U18 U.S. Team. He will get drafted by the NHL higher than any other D listed ahead of him. What does that tell you?
