Due to the Eden Prairie Community Center extensive remodeling, the EP Girls will play the first half of their season on other community’s ice. Then after December, the EPCC is scheduled to be completed and all but one of the last 10 games will be at home.

Any thoughts on the affect the split season of all away games and then all home games will have on the EP Girls? Or does it really not matter to High School Girls?

Home ice is not a real big factor in girls' h.s. hockey IMO, mainly because the crowds are ususally pretty small and not very vocal. There are exceptions but normally this is the case.JustAGuy wrote:Due to the Eden Prairie Community Center extensive remodeling, the EP Girls will play the first half of their season on other community’s ice. Also I couldn't help but notice that EP's schedule once again is not that all that difficult. No Holy Angels, Stillwater, BSM, Hopkins, Blake, Cloquet, etc.? Edina and Roseville are the obvious exceptions, and maybe they will have a good matchup or two at the Kaposia Classic. Other somewhat challenging games for them will be Warroad, Burnsville, and Eagan.
Bus rides to every game in the beginning of the season must get a little old after awhile I would think. And usually the JV girls are required to stick around and watch the varsity. Then take the bus back again. Boy, makes for a long November and December on the road 2 - 3 times per week!
As for not a very difficult schedule again this year, how are the non-conference games determined? Do the coaches have input into who they play outside the conference?
It looks like EP will play Warroad, Roseau, Roseville, Kaposia Classic and Edina outside their conference games. All historically pretty good teams?

Yes it is customary for the coaches to have input in setting non-conference games, normally working closely with their athletic director.JustAGuy wrote:Bus rides to every game in the beginning of the season must get a little old after awhile I would think. The teams you mention have strong traditions and will be good this year, especially Roseville and Edina. I would guess of the four you mention, Roseau would be the least formidable, at least on paper.
I had been under the impression that EP was going to be in the Edina Holiday Classic, not Kaposia? This must have changed as I understood that the Edina tournament was going to have Holy Angles, Bemidji, Blaine, BSM, Cretin, Grand Rapids, EP and host Edina, which would be a very strong field.
Re: EP Girls & Split Season
EP opted to defend their Kaposia title, and Hill-Murray replaced them in the Edina tourney.MNHockeyFan wrote:I had been under the impression that EP was going to be in the Edina Holiday Classic, not Kaposia? That makes sense. Do you know who else is playing in the Kaposia?allhoc11 wrote:EP opted to defend their Kaposia title, and Hill-Murray replaced them in the Edina tourney.MNHockeyFan wrote:I had been under the impression that EP was going to be in the Edina Holiday Classic, not Kaposia? Here is a post I remember seeing and went back and copied. It was posted back on August 21, 2007 by Hockeywild7. Now whether Hockeywild 7 has the info correct? I am not sure.hockeywild7 wrote:Edina tournament will feature these teams
