At some point someone is going to have to explain to me how with the SSm & TBreds + probably 4 other Elite level league teams why we can't create tourneys & events in MN that attract other great outside teams. This makes no sense to me when we travel to remote locations to play each other other than doing so for some exposure & experience...

Would it have anything to do with the fact that to be in one of those tournaments they have to have a usa hockey roster? Which tbreds and ssm already do and the codp fall team gets one as well. mnhockey makes it extremely hard to go through the process of getting one of those rosters, so that alone keeps tbreds and ssm from playing local teams. They can't according to the rules.ghshockeyfan wrote:At some point someone is going to have to explain to me how with the SSm & TBreds + probably 4 other Elite level league teams why we can't create tourneys & events in MN that attract other great outside teams. so in order to play good competition tbreds, ssm etc have to travel where other rostered teams are which is sometimes out east

No. Years ago? Maybe. Now? No. I wonder if it's more about (not)working together...trilogy wrote:Would it have anything to do with the fact that to be in one of those tournaments they have to have a usa hockey roster? SSM, T-Breds, "CODP," etc. can play other teams - up to 5 non-registered games per year I think? SSM can play HS teams too. Now these 3 teams are all USA H registered, as are 8 or so other U16 & u19 B&AGEL (Before & After Girls Elite League) teams this year... No excuses anymore to travel always for the AAA and 3 mentioned above...
Here's what I have so far for registered Teams...

I have a schedule in my hand and all three will be there.joehockey wrote:Has anyone seen the final field and game schedule for this tournament. I understand the Thoroughbreds, CODP and a Walser team are all playing at the U19 level.
The Thoroughbreds play Walser in pool play, they all could meet later on.
They also have Walser listed as Walter.

.
The teams are listed on line. ( When USA Hockey is up ) But I had the schedule handed to me.joehockey wrote:Is it available on line?
Try this..
http://www.usahockey.com/ohiowomenshock ... =AFFILIATE
.
I can do that if I bring my laptop, or the hotel has a puter to use.SportsMa wrote:Northland, if you are attending the tourney, please give us a summary or updates on how the Minnesota teams are doing!
One of the pages on the link above is suppose to have that info though. Hopefully it will.

If I can ... I'll give info that the site will not.

Minnesota Teams did well. It was a Canadian points tournament and standings were determinded by up to 5 points in a game.
U19
T-Breds finished 4-0-1 and won the Tier I Championship. They beat Suffolk 7-2, tied 2-2 with Brahmpton, won 8-2 over Walser, 5-2 over Ohio Phantoms and over Chicago Young Americans 3-0 in Championship. The Brahmpton, ON team tied them 2-2 on Saturday thanks to Muske's outstanding play in goal. T-breds scored late in game to tie 1-1 and then again with open net at 16 seconds to get 2-2 tie.
CODP finished 3-1 to finish 5th. They lost 1-0 to Chicago Young Americans in a Friday night 10:30 PM game after riding a bus all night on Thursday night. Great game and both goalies for teams where super - Sr. Rachel Borchardt of Moose Lake for CODP was very good. They beat Toronto Rattlers 3-1 and Belle Tire 8-1 on Saturday and beat Gilmore Academy in the 5th place game 2-1. Don't know name but a Breck senior forward Ellen Swiontkowski was outstanding - maybe best player in tournament - probably had 5 goals on weekend for the team. Team did well considering 11 are U16 eligible (10th graders: Pendleton-Hill Murray, Tuuri & King- Stillwater, Schendel & Berg-NSP, Hart & McGinity-Orono) and 4 are only 9th graders (Hirsch-Maple Grove, Williams-Chaska, McMillian-Blake, Anderson-NSP.
Walser U19 was 7th. They beat Belle Tire 7-2 on Friday, on Saturday they lost to Chicago Young Americans 7-2 (Wenzel their goalie was hurt at end of second with score 5-1 - so they skated third period with six attackers). They lost 8-2 to T-Breds but had to use thier U16 goalie.
U16
Walser U16 made top four but lost to Team Illinois 8-0.
SSM finished second I think to Team Illinois though both teams looked very good.

Joe did a great job covering the tournament.
Lots of fun watching teams I haven't seen before. All the games I saw were very entertaining. If you needed all 5 points in your last pool game to make the finals, made the game even more interesting.
That Walser U16 vr Team Illinois ... pretty hard to compete when your shorthanded most of the first period, and part of the second. ( 5 power play goals for Illinois)
Congrats to all MN teams.
