CHAPMAN RESIGNS!
Rumor is that Wally Chapman has resigned from Breck. To bad. He was a great coach. Anyone heard if Giles has been fired yet? I hope he doesn't end up in Cakeeaterville!

I heard it is between Pat Quinn and Wally Chapman for the Minnetonka job. Tonka "boosters" have been known to throw out the dough for coaches, wouldn't surprise me.

My source tells me Chapman will be focusing on his personal life and his financial business, So I would be very suprised if he takes another coaching position for now, also he has at least one child hockey player, and that he has missed a lot of his hockey and would like to enjoy that...can't blame him at all for that...you can coach anytime but your kids only go thru the ride once.breakout wrote:suntzu wrote:Wally to 'Tonka? Best of luck to Wally.
I've heard nothing but good things about him and his coaching, and his ability to promote his players.
Tough replacement needed at Breck.

Not a chance. The only job he would probably ever consider would be Edina. He's an alumni, he has a son in the program and half the boosters there would trade out Giles in a minute. And besides, if it was a matter of dough, no program has the ability throw out more dough than Breck or Edina.breakout wrote:suntzu wrote:Wally to 'Tonka? Yup, Minnetonka definitely has some poor facilities due to lack of funds...
In response to one comment... Giles will not be fired from Edina this year or next. Though his job may have been on the line a few years back, he now definitely has some job security.
I would agree that Hendrickson seems like a likely replacement at Breck

I wonder if Chapman leaving may have had a little bit to do with the AD also leaving, perhaps losing a little administrative support. Regardless, I'm sure Breck will hire a good coach, and that new hockey rink and its facilities will always be a huge attraction to players. Breck's hockey program will continue to strive. I would think they would promote somebody from inside the program who can emulate how Wally ran things.
