Cloquet-Superior final was 3-0, not sure who won.

Lightning won 5-1, having only 7 skaters.

They got great play from young girls today.

Scoring:
Steph Mackey (2)
Callie Anderson
Laura Gaffney
Kayla Clafton

Kayla Clafton and Jenae Hoeft had 3 point games. Rachel Wiley improves to 2-0 in the nets with a 3.00 GAA.

Duluth 7, Superior 2

PHM 4, GRG 3

Sadie Lundquist helped out GRG and scored twice. Callie Anderson also scored. Rachel Wiley was very good in goal for GRG. The reffing has been skeptical. In the last two games GRG has had 11 penalties called on them, and opponents, only 3. I honestly don't believe that the level of "cheap play" has been that way.

GRG comes from behind to beat Cloquet 3-2. 8th grader Baily Rasmussen stole the show scoring two goals, including the game winner. Both goalies were fantastic in this one.

Superior 3, Grand Rapids/Greenway 1

The Lightning outshot Superior about 35-20. It was the Superior goaltender that made the difference. She played VERY well. Amanda Bialon scored the only Lightning goal, with an assist to Michelle Tanner. Rachel Wiley played well in nets for the Lightning.

Moose Lake 3, Superior 2

Grand Rapids/Greenway 3, Duluth 2

Duluth would take an early 1-0 lead, but late in the first half, GRG would tie it. Amanda Bialon scored on the power play on a great passing play where Markie DeGrio and Michelle Tanner picked up assists. Duluth would take a 2-1 lead early in the second half. Laura Gaffney would tie it from the point with less than 10:00 left. That set the stage for Callie Anderson. She scored her third goal of the spring, this one being a game winner assisted by Johanna Kohorst and Bailey Rasmussen. Rachel Wiley was outstanding in goal for GRG. She lowered her spring GAA to 2.83. The Lightning sweep the spring series with Duluth winning 6-5 and 3-2.

Grand Rapids/Greenway 10, Moose Lake 0

GRG had 4 girls with 4+ points in the game. Heather Horgen had 3 goals and 1 assist, Michelle Tanner had 1 goal and 5 assists, Amanda Bialon had 1 goal and 5 assists, and Bailey Rasmussen had 3 goals and 4 assits. Every Lightning skater had atleast one point. Rachel Wiley was very good in goal. She recorded her first shutout of the spring. GRG improves to 5-2 and sweeps the season series with Moose Lake 5-1 and 10-0.

The GRG Lightning edged the PHM Mirage 3-2 in a very physical game in Duluth. Kayla Clafton had 3 assists and Amanda Bialon, Stacey Hull, and Dana Gallop all scored goals. Gallop scored the game winner. Rachel Wiley was outstanding in the game for the Lightning. Bailey Rasmussen was thrown out of the game on an obscure call with about 9 minutes left. The Lightning killed the 5 minute major. GRG improves to 6-2 overall. The Lightning and Mirage split the season series 3,3-4,2.

Other games Sunday were Moose Lake vs. Cloquet and Duluth vs. Superior.

I saw Duluth beat Moose Lake 8-2 yesterday.

Grand Rapids/Greenway beat Cloquet 3-2 for the second time in the spring. CEC jumped out to an early lead, but GRG answered back. Bailey Rasmussen scored a powerplay goal and Steph Mackey scored at even strength to give the Lightning the 2-1 lead. Cloquet would tie it with about 10 minutes to go in the game. Markie DeGrio would score the game winner with 30 seconds left on an assist from Kayla Clafton. The Lightning improve to 7-2 on the spring. Rachel Wiley was outstanding in goal yet again for the Lightning. Her spring GAA is 2.33.

Duluth 5, Moose Lake 3

Grand Rapids/Greenway 3, Superior 1

Grand Rapids/Greenway won its 8th game of the year to finish 8-2. The Lightning avenged their 3-1 loss to Superior earlier in the season with a 3-1 win on Sunday. The Lightning's 8-2 record was a league best. Dana Gallop, Heather Horgen and Johanna Kohorst scored for the Lightning. Rachel Wiley ended the spring with a GAA just over two.
