Grand Rapids - You Have Class

Post by black sheep »

Congratulations...to your whole community. Players, students, parents, fans. Great Job.

Very classy people...after losing what is always a tough game...Your captain congrats Roseau on a good came while he is getting the Herb Brooks award...I meet several people from GR at the X after who said good game. Your band and fans are good (fired up, hopping singing but never booing).

I once caught myself tapping my foot while the GR band was playing.

Very nice.

Thanks for bringing this up.
How you lose shows a lot about your character.
It's never fun, but as in everything else, how you handle it is up to you.
GR battled but came up short. Roseau played great at the right time this year and handled that well, also.
The Rams spent no time rubbing it in or acting like they "expected" it.
It really looked like they were simply enjoying a reward for some very hard work.
Let's hope they can handle what is ahead ..... expectations.
They are ahead of schedule, returning next year and being great will be as much of (or even more of) a challenge.
Classy programs, both of them. Nice to enjoy the tournament without the usual Private/Public noise going on.

Patrick white isn't only a great player, but a classy one too. I noticed that he took the time to shake every Roseau player's hand that made the all tourney team. nice to see good character in a great player.

The Grand Rapids Band and student section is great. All the compliments they have been getting are well deserved. The team went way beyond the expectations of most hockey fans. Congratulations on a heck of a season. I am very proud to say I am from GR. Thanks for everything. See ya next year.

I was very impressed with how GR handled themselves after that loss, especially the way Stejkstal and White handled themselves after the loss. It was refreshing to see such a mutual respect between the two teams. Roseau deserves a lot of credit in this regard as well. Great to see and congrats to both teams on great years.

Agreed.... GR's team has some class. I personally thought that Herb Brooks award was earned by Stejkstal just by what he said when they handed it to him, what a nice thing to say when you are awarded with such an honor. BOth teams played a great game and Rapids came up short in goals but definitly not in respect for their opponent! Good job... o yeah the band, pretty good too!

Ditto - Grand Rapids is a team with class. I was extremely impressed by the Brooks award winner - Joe S. The MSHL should provide a tape of that to all athletic programs so they know waht sportsmanship is. Joe is definitely a class act. Good luck to him in the future. The whining from a few from Moorhead was just classless as well as how they reacted as not winning (poor character), but a few Roseau fans could learn something from this too.

I agree with the classy kids from GR. Only problem I saw was after GR beat Burnsville in OT, Jensen skating in front of the Burnsville bench. The only thing I can think of is there must have been some serious smack being tossed back and forth. Not an excuse for doing something classless, but possibly a reason.

It was a FANTASTIC tournament and I was amazed by all the people, northern and metro, that wanted an all northern final.

Great Game Great Class

Post by TTpuckster »

I agree on this topic.

It has been tough the last couple of years for Rapids to get to the BIGGEST game, then have to come down.

The Rapids fans were great at the game and the team was even better.
Here's to the INDIANS/THUNDERHAWKS.

Hope to see ya there next year.

nice job to both teams
i was very pleased with both teams performance the score definatley didnt represent how the game was played it was a very even game and Roseau capitalized when they had ligit opportunities which is why they are the State Champions
great class shown by GR after the game that was awesome

I want to say hats off to Grand Rapids both fans and team. I saw Roseau people giving their seats to Rapids fans after their game on Friday night and at the same time wishing each other best of luck. The Rapids team showed big time class and their captains comment congratulating Roseau, after recieving the Herb Brooks award, was enough in itself to show why he was selected. That was huge condsidering the moment he was experiencing! Great Job GR.

It was great to see the sportsmanship between both teams in the championship game. I did not hear any booing, or stupid cheers from either group of fans, unlike some of the other games. I think it is just a case of Northern Pride. Grand Rapids band is awesome, but Roseau's band sure did a fine job on the National Anthem. Congratulations to both teams for a classy game, and way to go Roseau, it is great to see the great North win another one !!!!!!!!!!

I loved how GR reacted. They were very classy and deserve a lot of appreciation for that. It has to be tough losing two State championships in a row and to take that has to break your heart. I play for Woodbury and when we lost to Roseau 7-2 it sucked. It felt like our tourney was over yet we still had the consolation games to play. Then we beat hill and everything was great and even when we lost to Edina it was o.k. because we knew we played as best as we could. I know GR played as hard as they could and competed like no other team. I feel for all of the Seniors this year that played in last years game and this years because to lose and come so close sucks. Anyway it was a terrific year of hockey. I know I had fun going to state and I'm sure all of the fans enjoyed it. This is truly a great year of hockey. All of the upsets and all. Well great season GR and good luck!
