After seeing the emotions of Ryan Smyth after the trade was made, I felt pretty sad for him. I just can't believe the Oilers would do such a thing especially when he didn't care about how much money he would make. He loves Edmonton and didn't want to play anywhere else. It's nice to see that there are people in sports that don't care about the money as much as where they want to play. I heard on sportscenter last night that he would have played for any amount, as long as he could stay in Edmonton. My hat is off and my heart is out to Ryan, and I wish him the best at the Islanders.

I'd say so. You can definitely tell the presence he had on the team. The management in Edmonton are probably kicking themselves in the ass right now.

Too late to get him back now though haha.

I used to like the oilers and ryan smyth, but in my mind the oilers screwed him, i hope the oilers never win a game again.

He is an UFA. I wouldn't be surprised if he signed with Edmonton this summer.

The story has comeout like this-
Ryan was asking for 5.5 mill and Edm was offering 5.4.

I can't imagen thats right, I think Smytty is a heck of a guy but those are the nubmers that yahoo sports was throwing around.

Sad if it's true.
