Competitive Section Assignments

There have been many posts in different threads regarding 6AA and the way the MSHL has done the section assignments. The purpose of this thread is to pull it together for one robust discussion. I'd like to start off by asking if anyone can explain what the difference is in the process used for determining section assignments between girls soccer and girls hockey. While there are different teams that play, there isn't that much difference. In girls soccer, Wayzata, Eden Prairie and Edina are all in different sections. Last fall, Eden Prairie took second in state, while Wayzata placed third. Ironically, BSM and AHA play A in soccer.
