Thanks. I seem to recall years past where the Minnetonka-Edina has sold out at Braemar when the two teams were very good. Could just be my imagination though, I'll buy in advance just to be safe.tonkafan77 wrote:http://hornets.edina.k12.mn.us/sports/h ... le-ticketsRoseauverrated wrote:What's the word on tickets for this game? I'm guessing it will sell out, will they be selling them at Braemar Thursday and Friday?
To be safe, you can purchase your tickets on Friday or Saturday before the game but I highly doubt it will completely sell out. I'm just planning on getting there an hour early on Saturday, I'm guessing that should be fine.

It is agreed. Tonka returns the favor tonight, beating Edina in the Hornets' home rink 6-1 (or even 6-0 reprise of Schwan's Cup semi score). Tonka throttles Edina's one great line of Malmquist, Hurley and Jordahl, and matches them with the Coatta, Lettieri and Thie line and raises them two lines with Baskin, Rothstein and Ramsey (soon to be a household name) and Bader, Ridge and Katopodis (should also be a household name).
I also agree that it is time for the Skippers to step up. Tonka needs this one (and will get it) after the recent losses and the one-week layoff (team well-rested for run to overdue State Championship). Conversely, Edina needs a spanking, like the teams' meeting in late December. The Lake Conference race is not over. I expect the Skippers to establish momentum/confidence for the section playoffs by running the table against Edina, Hopkins, Wayzata, Eden Prairie and Buffalo. I see the only hurdle for Tonka between now and the State Tourny is BSM (should be a close game).

Tonka wins 5-4 in OT (Good call, Snap Shot). Good game. Seems like Tonka was able to grind a bit on Edina and that's when they were controlling play, but Edina has such great speed and they would get their opportunities by just going straight up the ice. Personally, I thought the difference was the goaltending. Not that Edina's played poorly; just that it seemed like Tonka's made a few more "big" saves when it counted.
Both teams are good. Both teams are two of the top 5 teams in the state.
Tonka will be tough to beat in 6AA. Maybe BSM if they play them at Mariucci and can get their skill to operate in more space. And God help the 2AA team that will most likely have to face Edina at Mariucci in the 2AA final. With their speed, I feel that it's definitely Edina's section title to lose. Young, fast, & get better each time they're out there.
*Of course, both teams have to get there, which is never a guarantee in one & done play*

It was quite the game at Braemar tonight. The atmosphere was similar to that of a section game- I'd say 95% of the seats were filled. Funny banter between the two student sections and ultimately, a classic lake conference overtime game.
For the rankings tomorrow, I'd imagine things won't be changing much.

[quote="tonkafan77"]Does anyone know if you can re-watch the game that was streamed last night? I unfortunately missed the overtime goal and one of Edina's goals and wanted to see them.[/quote
My fox hockey has the highlights on thier websight. Which of course includes the OT goal. I couldn't find the whole game.

Looking back at all the goals, both teams had a weak goal from the point that probably should not have gone in. The Hurley to Malmquist goal was very nice as well.tonkafan77 wrote:Does anyone know if you can re-watch the game that was streamed last night? Great atmosphere at Braemar last night. I wasn't very impressed with Minnetonka's goalie Ciaccio, he seemed to move rather slow, especially laterally. There were a couple goals he let up that I would have expected a high school goalie to stop. If Tonka wants to win it all this year, one of their goalies will need to step up and carry the team.
The 1st goal was a 2 on 1, the 2nd goal snuck under his pad as he slid to his right (but he probably could/should have had), the 3rd goal came from a puck that was jarred loose as he was down and the 4th goal came from a pass across the goal to a player staring at an empty net.Roseauverrated wrote:Great atmosphere at Braemar last night. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd goals are the ones that stood out to me. The first 2 were a result of him simply not getting over quick enough. The first one wasn't too bad because on a 2 on 1 you expect your D to take away that pass and give you the shot, the puck went in the direct center of the net though, it wasn't even a good shot. The second one did not sneak under his pad, he just didn't get over there quick enough on a shot from the blue line and it went in to the left of his skate. On the third one he missed an opportunity to cover the puck just before they scored. Nothing he could do about the 4th one though.Slap Shot wrote:The 1st goal was a 2 on 1, the 2nd goal snuck under his pad as he slid to his right (but he probably could/should have had), the 3rd goal came from a puck that was jarred loose as he was down and the 4th goal came from a pass across the goal to a player staring at an empty net.
You must not be remembering one of the best saves I've seen all year at any level (right after Edina had gone ahead 2 to 1) to Ciaccio's leftRoseauverrated wrote:Great atmosphere at Braemar last night.
