3,000 kids a year playing high school hockey and he is in the running for all time scorer.
Pretty impressive in my book.
Congrats whether he does it or not.
I agree, if this record is broken by Hanowski, it is impressive, anyway a player needs to get it done game by game and be a consistant scorer, it should be recognized no matter where they play and level of competition their school is at. It is not his point that his level of play is a lot higher than his high school competition level is at. The high school schedule is a grind and to be a contributor in point in every game speaks highly of the player. Good for him and keep racking up numbers and good luck. However, if the Little Falls program wants to move to the next level and be a recognized in the higher level of High School hockey ranks, they need to line up with some games against the Metro teams. Kind of reminds me of the Sleepy St. Mary's kid that racked up goals and scoring in a subpar league in early 2000 and was chosen by Mankato, but didn't make it. I am sure this wouldn't happen to him, but the D-1 level is a huge step up. Good luck, I am looking forward to see what he can do at St. Cloud.
And of course the majority of teams in Minnesota have a much stronger schedule right??????
Take a look at all the all time leaders there schedules are very very weak now if they were playing the Jeffersons and the Edinas and St Thomas and the other powers and coming up with the big numbers great but he is not. I guess I am from the old school, I look at the team titles that are in the trophy case like maybe a state title. but I will wish him the best at St Cloud
Dont get me wrong when i say this but i think he will break it and good for him cause he is a great player but i still dont think he is at the skill level or as dominant as John Pohl was he is the rightfull owner of the record in my mind

Get real TOT17, the Wingers didn't play a very tough schedule either and were ripped for it the same way the Flyers and Big Ben are now. This is good for the sport and for a program like Little Falls. I hope the kid breaks it big.

Actually (we'll see if you know anything of hockey outside of Red Wing) I am a Fergus Falls fan (gasps for those of you who understand)... And I am absolutely sure that Red Wing in the late 90's was playing a much huger, greater, tougher, schedule that had bigger, tougher, faster players and stonewall goalies , and much stronger shut you down defenses than Little Falls could ever play with, much less their schedule this year......
Defense, it sounds like you're just living in FF glory years. sorry they are over and will never come back. Give Hano some credit, he is a great kid and fun to watch. Do you not like him cuz he did the jersey show off to the Fergus crowd a couple years ago? Or are you just mad that the last time FF played in a section final they got beat 11-1.

I think defense is actually supporting Hano. Unless I'm badly mistaken.

Yea good call last time i checked Elk RIver was right next to red wing right

Settle down "The Vet". I jumped on Little Falls' bandwagon this year as soon as I seen them in Fergus Falls. They ARE for real. The point however is that I AM an Otter fan, and I still think Little Falls is this year's champion, read some other threads. If Fergus had anything to offer this year we would be going at it, but they do not and I know that this year's Flyer team is as good or better than some of Fergus' "glory" years. And furthermore, I know that it IS pretty impressive if he breaks it in the schedule the Flyers have.
Now, talkofthetown17: Little Falls and Fergus Falls have turned into a pretty good hockey rivalry...that is up here in the sticks. I know that there are no good teams up here and why should you care anyway, but you called me a Little Falls fan and I am not.
PS, what does Elk River have to do with anything??????
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe that Hanowski had ten points in the state tournament last year. Thats pretty good. I don't know if anyone else scored like that in that same tournament.
I know the first thing argument someone will say is that he played in the Class A tourny but he can't be blamed for that. He doesn't control his teams schedule. All he does is go out there and play, which he does well. Maybe he will do this well in college, maybe not. But hes earned a scholarship nonetheless, and I'm willing to bet that college scouts are better at analyzing talent than anyone who posts on this forum.

Yes, most high level teams play some lower teams in their conference and non coference schedule. The Lake has Kennedy and Rosemount, Benidle has St. Francis and so on. Jefferson played some teams from No, Dakota to enchance their record. Lets look at the top rated teams in the State.
Honestly he could have had about 9 assists last night if guys would have capitalized on his passes. He had many awesome feeds last night that didn't get converted.

Ben Goff of Woodbury let the AA tournament with eight points. Ben Hanowski led the A tournament with 10 points.
I think it's about time you all give credit where credit is due. Who cares if his schedule isn't like the big time city schools'. It's not his fault he was born and played here. Sure, he probably wouldn't have had this chance to break this record if he played in the cities because some school probably would have recruited him to their all star team when he got to high school and the competition would have been better. But, when a player from the cities stays and even gets close to this record than you guys can talk. Good luck with that. Just stop with the weak schedule argument. It's getting old. STA knew what he could do and they still couldn't do anything about it last year. He has proven himeslf worthy against better competiton too.

Cities teams -- schedule -- cities -- big cities -- weak schedule -- easy schedule -- play the cities teams bla bla bla records bla bla... The Great one #99 says no one will ever beat his records (unless the rules change) because the goalie pads blockers and gloves are twice as big and half the weight as when he played. .....STEROIDS break some records still need talent however... I have a high school buddy that has a college longest punt record that will only be broke if the conditions are the same or better as he had 45-50mph tailwind... record???? Ben beats it great!!, and yes other players in the state yes yes yes the cities and others, have simular talent as Ben. Lets postpone this until next year at this time, really it should be a few years,,, but how will he adjust to the next level. I have season tickets at SCSU have watched Festler who holds his own for 1st year but it's a big step from highschool. Until next year. NO I"M NOT FROM SMALL FALLS!!!!

The exception would be Tavares...he beat Gretzky's OHL 16yr old goal record for a season...if ur meaning NHL records only..then u are probably right...his assists alone are higher than anyone has points (assists+goals) EVER in the NHL
Gretzky- 1,962 ASSISTS
Messier- 1,855 POINTS
Messier also played in almost 400 more games than the "Geat One"...also..the "Great Son"(Gretzky's Son)...I think went to shattuck and turned out not to be so "great" playing on their third team...at least I think
