Chaska (6) 13

Bantam Notes: Several district tournaments being contested at this time but congratulations to District Tournament Champions Edina (D-6), Moorhead (D-15) Roseau (D-16), Hibbing (D-IR), New Prague (D-4) and Richfield (D-TC). #1 Edina drops first district game, losing 2-3 to Eden Prairie, only to avenge loss with 4-0 win to win second consecutive District 6 Championship. Strong performance by Eden Prairie moves them to #4 ahead of #6 Jefferson, which earned the third regional seed for D-6. Top 20 teams for most of the season, both Chaska and injury riddled Hopkins will not advance to regionals but they deserve credit for great seasons. Red-hot Osseo jumps to #9 as they prepare to square off against #5 Orono for the D-3 title. Maple Grove, which dropped a three overtime thriller to their cross town rival Osseo in D-3 semi-final, must earn their way to the regional. Roseau rises to #7 with commanding 5-1 victory over #14 Warroad to win D-16 title while #12 Moorhead breezed to D-15 title, shutting out their opponents 15-0 in district tournament. #3 Centennial and #11 Blaine are expected to meet for D-10 title later this week and #8 Rochester North and #17 Rosemount will contend in D-8. Hibbing beat Greenway for the D-IR title and earns a spot at #18. While Richfield deserves credit for D-TC win, we don’t expect them or runner-up Southwest/SLP to advance in the ultra tough metro regional. New Prague, which made its last visit to the MHJ TOP 20 in late November, is back in at #19 as D-4 Champions. They’ll be one of the contenders in the Silver Region along with #15 Buffalo, Owatonna and Mankato Purple for a single spot in state. All the district seeds should be determined by the time of the next MHJ TOP 20. Good luck to all teams and congrats to all the teams that are done for the year. SPECIAL OFFER: Minnesota Hockey approved group rates for the Bantam “A” State Championship, March 17-19 at New Hope.

A little harsh to drop Hopkins out of the rankings? I know for a fact they are much better than half of the top 10-20 teams. Maple Grove goes from 5 to 13..interesting. Maple Grove needs to get out of there little slump, and play like a top 4 team again. They have to talent to go a long way. Why is Rochester North in the top 10? Who have they beaten this year?

Osseo deserves that top 10 spot, they are peaking at the right time. I would look to see them give Orono a run for there money in the Championship D3 game.

Hopkins should definitely be in the top 20. They are not done either, not sure where they got that from.
