Kicking

Post by John04 »

I was just at a high school game where a kid was thrown out for kicking another where the sun doesn't shine and he is only out 1 game. I don't understand how the TC district could inflict a 5 game suspension. From what you said earlier the peewee player didn't even make contact. It is a shame a high school guy can kick a player and make contact and get 1 game but a youth who doesn't make contact gets 5. Something is not right.

The youth player in question weighs maybe 65 pounds at the most was laying on his side and swung his leg over to get on his back to get up.

I maybe should not even comment on the Kicking incident.
I do NOT know what happened with this, quote / unquote kicking.

I can speak from expierience that MOST times a kicking Match Penalty is called the penalty impossed is 5 games from the time of the hearing. At least the one player that I coached a few years back, that is what happened, 5 games.

I do believe that the people from TC District were just stating the same things. That based on their previous expieriences, Kicking HAS resulted in a 5 game suspension. I sure would hope in a case such as this a little more investigation takes place, being that MOST people are saying this is a bad call. MAYBE someone has video tape, that sure could help in this matter.

I was at the game, If this district is this chicken S--t about something that minor what will they do to a coach that calls the ref three different times to his face a fu--er and all he got was three bench penaties and no suspension. Great job refs. and district.

I hear there is a video tape and the parents are just waiting to see how they are treated at this hearing and that a law suit may be presented at a future date. Minnesota hockey has to address the situation that you know sometimes refs can make mistakes too.AKA video replay. I am not saying that we need that at this level a ref has to admit when he is wrong and not be afraid that he will look bad if he tells the TRUTH!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... g7stars at: 2/13/06 2:31 pm

I just got an email from an official from the district about these players and he wouldn't comment until after tonights meeting.

He said they have all sorts of issues to deal with.

SLP Coach is right about the kicking thing too - its just a 12 year old kid. How much damage could he do? Kids are kids.

I don't agree.

You guys are supposed to be the adults in this situation and you mean to tell me you'd allow kids to run down a hallway on skates (not what they are designed for) and scream like a crazy person (just because they are kids).

Youre the same coaches that stick up for players that are cheap on the ice. You teach them how to be cheap and then just say its a part of the game.

I have a feeling there will be a lot more people at tonights meeting than we've had for a while.

I look forward to seeing faces instead of just callnames.

In no way does anyone here condon kicking but this was just an all out make-up call the ref was trying to make a name for himself. There have been AS FAR AS i KNOW two other kicking incidents and both were given 5 game suspensions. It looks like it is a automatic even if innocent. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty. The refs are always right just ask any of them from TC.

I think these people in the TC district feel that they are immune to this being a kids game and that it is about them.

Check the Mn Hockey Handbook page 28
N.Any player or coach who receives a Match penalty shall serve a minimum suspension of 5 previously scheduled games for the offense(Refer to USA Hockey Official Rules- Rule 405).

If this is the case why on earth would you waste everyones time at a hearing. I know this kid is not guilty but has to serve 5 games because of something he thought he saw from the blue line when two players were trying to get up.

kicking

Post by grizisastud »

same thing happened to me. Didn't kick the kid at all but it must've looked like i did. I had to go in front of the district 6 grievance ( dont know how to spell it) committee and they gave me the choice of 2 weeks or 3 games and obviously took 3 games cuz it was shorter. Some refs in Minnesota are such a joke.

I was at the board meeting right after the hearing for the Johnson player that you are talking about.

I was told the ref didn't file the paperwork correctly and there isn't going to be any more time added to his pen.. He can play as of now.

Glad to hear it.

Re: Kicking Issue Solved

The board decided that there was insuffecient evidence to prove that this player was in breech of any rules violation. The Official in this case was not able to be present, so there wasn't a chance to discuss this.
