Bill Lechner announces this will be his final season coaching Hill-Murray

Figured he'd be hanging up the skates one of these years. Been a great coach and leader for a lot of HM kids throughout the years. He isn't flashy, but his teams often got the job done. Let's see if he can make one more run at state.

Can't imagine Giles is far behind.

Total class guy. In my 30 years at the Richfield Ice Arena, he is by far the best coach that has come here, not including the Holy Angels, and Richfield coaches. He is the first one off the bus, shakes hands with employees. After game is over, win or lose, will thank employees and asks if the locker room is satisfactory if not, he will get the players off the bus to clean. Last one on the bus then. Congratulations on a great career as a coach.

A friend played baseball at St Thomas when Lechner was there. He said Bill played shortstop and my friend didn't think he made an error in his college career.
