6 Tonka guys on all-tourney team but just 3 Moorhead guys is…interesting.
Re: Tonka Moorhead
What a great championship day! Unreal comebacks in both games and two outstate champions this year. Happy for the Spuds. Well done!

2 in a row for Moorhead. Can they make it three? Their roster is young. They may never lose again.

Ever since Bantams I’ve thought Zimmerman is the scariest player every time he takes the ice. Absolute sniper. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a rematch next year. Both teams should be loaded.

Congrats Moorhead. You earned it. Looks like the Cullens, Zimmerman, and Arnold return next year.

They must’ve voted on it while Tonka was ahead. Probably during the 2nd intermission.SpreadOut! wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2026 10:12 pm 6 Tonka guys on all-tourney team but just 3 Moorhead guys is…interesting.

Unfortunately for MN hs fans, Joey Cullen will not be back. Hlglad he got the state title in his only shot. What a game that was. Have you ever heard the X louder than after ZZ game tying goal? I don't think I have.Nostalgic Nerd wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2026 11:18 pm Congrats Moorhead. You earned it. Looks like the Cullens, Zimmerman, and Arnold return next year.

Re: Tonka Moorhead
I can recall all the way back to 1969 and I don't believe any champion has ever been down three goals in a championship game, and I''m guessing if any were before that the comeback started long before the 6:54 mark of the third period.
I recall Edina trailing Henry Sibley 3-0 with about ten minutes to play in the 1974 semifinals and scoring five straight to win 5-3, but that was a semifinal game and I don't Sibley was a top 2-3 team. To overcome a three-goal deficit in around ten minutes against a Brimsek finalist and a team that focuses on defense and puck control is unheard of even for a top caliber team. Especially when Moorhead looked gassed late in the second period. Minnetonka has to be shell shocked.
And as for the all tournament team, it is chosen as far as I know after the second period, which explains the Minnetonka-Moorhead disparity. Hopefully they'll rethink that policy in the future. And did anyone else notice that Jim Carroll (the announcer) named Edina's Chase Bjorgaard but the official list had the Rosemount goalie? I could see either but the Rosemount guy won two games. Whatever.
If Moorhead's stars return they'll be early favorites but Minnetonka's young players are of the same caliber so it may be two more years of Spuds and Skippers. It'll be nice if some other team steps forward and makes it more than a two team race.

With 51 minute games, teams now have more time to come back, especially versus 36 minute games. It's much harder to run out the clock when the 3rd period is 17 minutes.Rich Clarke wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2026 11:45 pm I can recall all the way back to 1969 and I don't believe any champion has ever been down three goals in a championship game, and I''m guessing if any were before that the comeback started long before the 6:54 mark of the third period.

Any thoughts on Tonka bailing on the post game? As that ever happened before?

Unfortunate, but the world isn't going to end because of it. At a minimum Goldy should have made himself available IMO.headsupsticksdown wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2026 10:08 pm Any thoughts on Tonka bailing on the post game? As that ever happened before?

Is this in reference to the acceptance of medals, or was this something different postgame?

Gotcha.
Agree with InThePipes -- Goldsworthy should probably have gone. I have no issues if they requested kids & they refuse. They are not professionals or even college kids.

Re: Tonka Moorhead
That is the odd part. Kids are kids. Even all the chatter about how players from both Hibbing and Tonka reacted when accepting their medals, I get it. I don't like it, but in the heat of the moment right after losing emotions are high. But for the HC not to show up is definitely a head scratcher. I mean, everyone is quick to jump on things when winning. What was his reason for not showing up?InThePipes wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 6:14 amUnfortunate, but the world isn't going to end because of it.
