I'm hearing one of the top scorers heading to another program in the NW Suburban and a goalie who may be moving to a different program as well.

Flynn Sandburg would have competed for the starting goalie job at Centennial is leaving to play AAA in Michigan. Heard it’s either HoneyBaked or Little Caesar’s.

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26
I don't get the appeal of heading over to those T1 teams. There seems to be several more MN kids that will be heading out to MI, I think HTown's top goalie from Bantam's is also moving out there as well. I just don't get the logic of moving out there, playing mediocre if not horrible teams locally and having to travel every other weekend just for decent competition. I've seen it time and time again where kids bounce back because they miss competing in the MN HS league, so why not save your 100K and stay home?Lino Lakes Hockey wrote: ↑Sun Aug 17, 2025 9:34 pm Flynn Sandburg would have competed for the starting goalie job at Centennial is leaving to play AAA in Michigan. From the 14U (2010) Blue Ox National Champion team last year, four are slated to go to 15U AAA programs in Michigan, that I know of. Three were to go to Honeybaked (Cullen, Dozark, Buttweiler) and one went to Fox Motors (Deraney). And yes, Carter Nash was to end up Honeybaked, from what i have heard.headsupsticksdown wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 12:14 pmI don't get the appeal of heading over to those T1 teams. Games, 60-70 at AAA of versus 20-25 at high school. Also, a lot of these players were just drafted in the recent WHL 2010 Prospects Draft. Those teams may also hold a little pull on where they would like their prospects to play.

From what I've seen, let's take Caesar's for example you're smoking teams 20-0 in the near vicinity of your "division". Then hopping on a plane to play "tougher" competition by winning mildly by a score of 8-2. It's literally like summer league night in and night out. I just don't get it.BSUBeaver wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 1:38 pmFrom the 14U (2010) Blue Ox National Champion team last year, four are slated to go to 15U AAA programs in Michigan, that I know of. Sounds like there’s a mass departure happening in Shakopee. Up to 6 players are rumored to be leaving the program. Can anyone confirm this?

Not saying it's right or wrong - but it's in the backyard of the NTDP and you got to think the NTDP guys prefer the AAA kids who play 60-70 games.....
Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26
From the U15 National Camp booklet, these players had Honeybaked listed as their 25-26 team that didn't play for Honeybaked in 24-25:
MN Kids:
Easton Dozark (Moorhead)
Henry Buttweiler (Moorhead)
Carter Nash (Hermantown)
Non-MN Kids
Ivan Belikov (Mt. St Charles)

It’s done pretty much. Shakopee is losing a ton. Which means kids move up meaning even at the Bantam level things will be thin. I’m sure they’re on the phones as we speak.

And it is my understanding that at least 2 from Bantams are going the Tier 1 route (SSM).BP wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 2:29 pmNo - junior teams.WarmUpTheBus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 2:14 pmAre they just going back to where they came from? I know there was at least one Chan/Chaska kid at Shakopee.

Re: Official Coaching Openings - 2025-26
This trend is truly sad as parents keep rushing their kids through the process
PARENTS- Colleges don't want your kid until he's 21 now...Slow the F down..If you think sending your 15-16 year old to Moose Jaw Canada is the answer then please put down those pot gummy bears because they are making you hallucinate. And if you're sending your kid to the NAHL before he graduates from high school, then put down your crack pipe because you have really lost any sense of logic.
Inexperienced and desperate advisors/agent....Please leave our kids alone and stop pushing them to juniors. You have your agenda way ahead of theirs.
College coaches- For the love of the game, stop this nonsense of thinking major junior kids is going to save your job...Lets get college hockey back to being played by college age students...Not 22-26 year olds
Minnesota Hockey. org.....If you truly do care about the sport, please get with the high school league and stop this open portal stuff that's destroying our high school teams...tighten up zip code hockey before it's too late
There...I said it...thank you for allowing me to vent...
