Hello
Are we all in that mid-season slump? Why isn't anybody posting! Let's get some new topics to discuss. I will start!
Who do you think will win each division on the Schwan's Cup this season? Top to bottom?

I have an idea why ghs is gone, but I could only speculate. Maybe Mitch Hawker could address that subject?
Anyway, on the subject of the Schwan cup, here's my predictions, FWIW.

Blue division; BSM beats Stillwater in the final. Hopkins draws BSM first round; bummer.

Red division; I think Blake comes out of the top bracket, but the bottom bracket's a really close call; while I'm a Mayo homer, I'll say GRG comes out to get beat by Blake in the final.

White division; St. Francis and Eagan meet in the semis for the defacto championship; Eagan has the edge with goaltending. Coon Rapids comes out of the bottom bracket but I'd say Eagan wins it all.

Green division; Roseau over Forest Lake.

Yellow division; no idea; my dad used to live in Baraboo, so lets go with them.

Schwan Cup
Blue - CEC beat Stillwater
Red - Warroad beats Blake
White - Eagan beats Coon Rapids
Green - Prior Lake beats Roseau
Yellow - Baraboo beats Eveleth-Gilbert

Alright! Baraboo's the darling of the yellow division!
Just wanted to clarify; when I said the bottom bracket of the red division is a close one, I meant it's a 4-way dead heat. Any of the GRG, New Prague, Warroad and Roch Mayo/Lourdes teams could come out of there.

Re: Hello
dad,

where is ghs? i really don't know. but i do know coaching hs hockey and being very active on this board will catch up to you sooner or later. too many people with thin skin out there that will get angry over what you may or may not say... i would say if i was a coach i wouldn't post here, or if i did i would be annonymous..

Re: Hello
That's kind of what I suspect, but he didn't even say goodbye...

Good luck to your team ghs......I enjoyed your insights.

Re: ghs
I think the focus of ghs efforts was largely, if not entirely the promotion of the sport, sportsmanship in general and appropiate, general & much deserved recognition of the achievements of the athletes themselves. We could use more just like him in the forum...alot more IMO.

Re: ghs
He was positive - most of the time, anyway. The problem as I see it was that he constantly posted about players from other schools. Take a look at the front page of today's Strib or elsewhere on these boards about the topic of open enrollment and recruiting. Understand that I do not believe his intent was to recruit anyone or paint himself and/or his team as a better option for certain players, but if I were an opposing coach I would be crying foul on some of his posts.

I'm sure he's still checking in on this board, so if you're out there, GHS, best of luck.

Eddie- Way off!
E. Shore, I'm disappointed by your comments. GHS stayed on this board solely to promote the game, and to make sure that people would speak positively about the sport, and the girls who work hard to play the game to the best of their ability!

If anyone mistook his comments about players who he always spoke of in a positive light as anything more than just recognizing deserving athletes, than they don't have any clue what GHS is all about! I don't know any coaches who would disagree, he is respected by his peers, and any athletes he has coached over the years(period!)

Re: Eddie- Way off!
JJ,

your post proves my point above about what ghs may or may not say on this board. people can be very fickel and will read into comments things that there was absolutely no intent. that is exactly why i think it very ignorant to be a well know coach posting on this board with everyone knowing who you are.

i agree with what you think ghs was/is trying to do but it easily can be taken in other ways which the intentions are not even remotely close. e. shore brings up some interesting comments that on second thought do have some merit for people on this board.

Re: GHS
I wanna go on record that this stinks! GHS is a recent aquiantence of mine this past year and has imo fallen prey to what is wrong with this sport... people with limited knowledge yelling the loudest. You go to most any game in most any town and you will find them in the stands complaining about the coaching...claiming they know better... but of course... NEVER EVER actually putting time to make the game better or worse off putting in time for self-serving reasons. When I had a problem I went to GHS for advice and he put all rivalries aside and helped me out one hockey person to another.
It only takes 1-2 bad apples to "read into" anything and ruin it for the rest of us.

IMO you are a class act whos inteligent opinions and credability will be sorely missed by anyone with half a clue...

GHS, I am sure you are out there, be well my friend and don't let the <bleeps> get ya down bro!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Re: GHS
Not that opinions count for much, and it's not going to be subject to a vote, but I would like to echo wolfpackvoice's comments regarding GHS.

GHS is a totally class act and has the higher interests of the sport at the top of his aganda, regardless of his coaching position.

I hope you can find your way back GHS.

Merry Christmas to all.

I hope not, hubbaa. Still, a coach is in a tenuous position when participating in a forum like this one. Sad part is a coach is the most informed and informative voice we could have, yet the one who may have to hold back more than any of us. Ironic, no? The least knowlegible could be the loudest, while the best of us has to bite his tounge.

Echo Wolfpackvpoice
I have said it before, but Wolfpack is right on. I used to be coaching years ago, and now I just like to watch the girls and boys play. Many of the contributors at these sites are just the parents of players who never offered to help, never would step on the ice, but always had a "But....something negitive" to say. These players, regardless of who they play for are all winners. Coaching hockey in Minnesota is like taking a final test every gameday. I know GHS personally, and he spends more time helping and teaching players about hockey and life than anyone I know. My hat's off to him and the other coaches, asst. coaches, and administrators who have helped make this sport what it is.

Re: ghs
SE,

i guess i don't believe in biting my tounge and i don't think anyone on this board should have to. the thinned skin crowd will at some point in their lives have to face the truth, and yes, sometimes it does hurt. no better way to improve than by looking at the truth and figuring out what we all need to improve on.

ghs got the shaft at kennedy. he didn't say anything just wished them luck. now it appears the scenario plays itself out again. i don't know all the facts in both these situations but i do hope he did stand up for himself and showed some backbone before walking away. ghs is too good a guy to be a door mat...

Hubba...Q?
Hubba,
Not to be overly nosey, but...
What happened?

Re: Hubba...Q?
red,

ghs used to coach kennedy a couple years ago and appeared to have an excellent nucleus of young talent. the administration decided they wanted to go "another route" so they got rid of ghs and brought in a female coach. essentially he was descriminated against because of his sex. a year after the new female coach was hired she quits to try out for the olympics. upon quitting so do the kids as they disperse to other schools around town.

another very wise decision by an admininistration! looks to me like ep owes kennedy a big thank you for the way they conduct business....

Re: Hubba...Q?
Is he still at Simley?

Re: Hubba...Q?

Re: Hubba...Q...WHAT IF???
And what if GHS had remained at B-K last year. The 5 girls who left B-K - would they have stayed?

Academic question but there are "what if's" on this forum all the time....
