Simley is a top 10 A team once they return to full strength - and yes I'm biased.

I am running KRACH rankings today, but they won't be of much value I don't think until mid-dec at the earliest as the computer will need more data.

Nice part is that hte new site helps me keep track of everything easier and in a more presentable fashion...

From what I've seen, it takes a team deep in talent to do well! That really looks like the case this year. There are many top players, but if they are not on teams with good 2nd and 3rd lines it could really affect their overall team production.

What does everyone else think? I haven't watched very many teams yet. Are there teams people are impressed with, or team people are not impressed with?

Hockeyhead

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... keyhead at: 11/22/05 11:52 am

I think Farmington needs to be rated higher. We will see what they really have tomorrow night versus SSP. We know they can score (32 goals in 3 games) but can their goaltending and defense hold down SSP?
SSP 5 Farmington 2

Warroad lost to Henry Sibley 2-1, but Warroad was without Holly Roberts for that game. Not sure if Warroad should of dropped in rankings because of that.
I think SSP has to be ranked #1 right now.
This will be a true test for Farmington when they play SSP.
Will see if they warrant higher ratings after that game?

I think hockeyhead's teams all belong in top 10, I just question order as it's way too soon to tell exactly where everyone belongs. As time goes on it will become more clear obviously, but two good groups of ten for now...

I don't get it?
Farmington gets beat 9-0 and moves up 3 spots from #6 to #3?
Did they vote prior to the results of SSP vs Farmington game?

I haven't seen the latest LPH rankings, but note that they were done pre-SSP/Farmington game this week (early vote submission due to the holiday I hear... noon/3Pm tue - game wasn't until that night...)

I think Stillwater is one of the best teams in AA. They have really impressed me from what I have seen and heard of them. I know it's early in the season but I think they could be a contender for the state title if they continue to be as sucessful as they are right now.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Nice to finally see Grand Rapids/Greenway on the list. Watch for them to break top 10. They've got a good group of girls with a ton of talent.

I agree! Hopkins had a big win last night against a great Wayzata team. Hopkins has had a good year so far!

Hockeyhead

I think it's a good list, and I agree with the majority of the order.

I think the placement of two of the teams on the list is up for debate due to the fact that they have not done well as of late due to missing players. How much do you penalize a team rankings wise for this? that's what's a tough call.

When I look at rankings, I think of which team I would like to play least, and I make them #1. Next least #2, and so on. Then I look at if my choices conflict with recent results, but some of those recent results may need to be taken into consideration in the proper context... Was the team at full strength, etc.

I still think it's a good list, and I agree with the majority of the order.

ghs,

don't worry about a stupid ratings list, they really don't mean anything as i'm sure you know. the only thing that matters is who is standing at the end..

i believe your team will get what they deserve a little down the road...

These teams are all solid! I think there is a huge drop in Class A after these teams though. As mentioned before many of these teams would be top 10 in AA but AA has way more depth, big time. I don't get to see LPH very often but am interested in what they say in A, and AA.

I assume this was done before Wayzeta lost to Hopkins and Anoka. How do you think that will change their ranking?

This was done after Way lost to Hopkins, but before they lost to Anoka.

Seems they outshot Anoka, but Hopkins the shot count was closer. I look at this too if I didn't see a game, plus always want to know what other factors may have played in - players out/injured/etc., lots of PK/PP time in the game, etc. W/out a detailed boxscore (or better yet seeing the game) it's hard to say exactly what happened.

The bottom line is that I think it's early in the year and we're going to see some adjustment to the rankings, and I do think that Way lost to two very underrated teams. Anoka is much better than what most give them credit for, and the same is even more true for the Hopkins squad.

Was at the game last night, the first line of each team was well-matched, but Anoka's second line was just better. Lorch for Anoka (2nd line) had a hat-trick.

Wayzata's Freshman goaltender struggled. Anoka is underrated and will surprise some teams.
