Re: Save the Govies...
They might have to do what Greenway did years ago, go out and knock on doors to find kids to play. And find businesses to donate equipment, etc.
That's how the Raider program kept going. Pat Guyer and Jim Lawson spearheaded that. And a few years.later they came within a win of the title.
I wish them well.

In the last couple of years that there was a Richfield Hockey Association, they attempted to bring in the hockey players who were not traditional hockey players and families. Free equipment and ice time, was OKAY for a couple of weeks but went downhill fast then RHA went away. Now at the Richfield Ice Arena along with the Learn to Skate program, they are in the second year of "Little Spartan" program which opened up a new option for kids to learn basic hockey. Last year there were like 6-8 kids and this year doubled or more. Program runs Saturday mornings right after the Learn to skate program. Hopefully next year it will be even bigger. May be an option for East-side hockey.

3 little letters to combine with Go Fund Me - N I L
Amazes me sometimes that there are tons of kids all over the Metro who will play their last games as Bantams because they have no chance at making their High School teams due to the large number of players in the association. Yet, at the same time, there are high schools struggling with numbers so badly they are folding. Open enrollment, boys.
I don't think anybody would be upset if Johnson recruited like some other schools get flack for doing. It would be done out of necessity.

I did get a chuckle when Karl tweeted "Death, Taxes and Ken Pauly screaming at referees" when Hermantown was wiping the floor with BSM's tooshes a couple of weeks ago.

Would you open enroll your kid to Johnson just for hockey? Parents are fleeing the St Paul school district in record numbers for a reason. I am just saying there are many reasons to a programs demise. Education is a primary driver for most of us.SCBlueLiner wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 11:30 am 3 little letters to combine with Go Fund Me - N I L

Rochester is a, generally, affluent school district but is hemorrhaging kids at record rates to private schools and surrounding districts due to the political nature of the administration. If you can afford to leave, you are probably going to leave. John Marshall is the apex of that argument. Because education is the driver for many, not indoctrination.

That's a very legitimate question.goldy313 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 12:25 amWould you open enroll your kid to Johnson just for hockey?
