Lakeville North vs. Lakeville South Game!

Post by g0pherbabe13 »

The first ever game between Lakeville North and Lakeville South is tonight at 7:00 at Ames Arena.

Should be an intense game!

I'll be the first to admit I'm a senior from Lakeville North, so I want to crush them. The only thing is one of my best friends plays for South (Emma Lehman), so we are sad, but its still very competitive.

Our teams share a locker room during the season and this whole week has been a lot of jabs back and forth between us players.

The stakes are high for bragging rights!

lakeville ice

question. What's the status of another sheet or two of ice in Lakeville? I know there was talk of that a few months back, but don't know if anything came of it.

As of now the only 2 sheets of ice we have are at Ames Arena.

There was talk about building a community center on some baseball fields, but that was cancelled after some debate on land issues or something.

We really really really need some more sheets though because right now both girl teams are having combined practices with JV and Varsity because there isn't enough time slots.

The combined North/South JV team will be bussed down to Faribault to practice at Shattuck. No ice available at Ames for them. The 4 south girls on the team are really in a bad position. North is sending down many Varsity players to play JV so they get more playing time which bumps the South JV players down on the list and they get little playing time. South has yet to send down any Varsity players. I would recomend to all high schools thinking about combining JV teams to not do it. It was a good idea but in practice it has been disorginized, school pride is lost and one schools players get favored over the others. They have not lost a game yet and have no weak players on the team. They could have made 2 JV teams. With the cutting of several players down to U14 and the loss of 3 good players from last year the numbers were there. Most teams they have played so far only have 11-13 skaters and 1-2 goalies. Lakeville's combined JV has 16-18 skaters and 2 goalies. You add back in the cuts and talk the quiters back and you have enough for 2 JV's without trashing the U14 program. I will admitt, Hind sight is 20/20.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... klicker at: 11/21/05 3:31 pm

I always wanted to try to run co-op JV and was told it was against MSHSL rules unless you co-op at V level. Maybe the rule has changed or I was misinformed...

Honestly it appears they need more ice in Lakeville.

One thing I'd like to see is JV teams be able to Co-op even if V isn't, and also for them to be able to play U14/16/19 teams. I'm quite certian this is doable, and is already but when questions asked most come up with some reason why it can't vs. finding the solution to how it can be done...
