Pre Season Top 10
Now that we are less than 4 weeks away from the high school season, I thought I would start a new pre-season rankings topic.
Please refrain from making this a recruiting/open enrollment topic or talking negative about certain players. If you want to talk about coaches, parents, or athletic administation start it on another topic.
If you know something about a specific team (ie... a transfer) please use their year in school and the team they are coming from. That maybe useful...

Here is where I see it...

AA

1. Eden Prairie
2. Stillwater
3. Roseville
4. Centennial
5. Holy Angels
6. Wayzata
7. Benilde
8. NSP
9. Re: Pre Season Top 10
I believe Andover is AA.

I'd put Farmington and Crookston ahead of Simley to start the year.

I put these among the candidates for the top 10 true class A public schools:

Assuming no huge transfers out & in alphabetical order...

Alexandria
Blake
Crookston
Farmington
Fergus Falls
Hibbing
Mahtomedi
New Prague
Simley
SSP
Totino-Grace
Warroad

SLP has two huge losses and where they fit in will depend on how they adapt.

I'll be watching Richfield & Shakopee too...

I hear a lot about Silver Bay too...

And you can't look past Breck, SPU, etc. Not sure what they have coming in, etc.

Same is true of Mound and Orono, will be interesting to see how they do this year - lots of potential.

Who am I forgetting???

Here were the top 25 in each class last year. I'd say there teams have the best chance of being in the top 10 in their respective classes this coming year.

Reminder that BSM, AHA, Andover went A to AA and SSP to A...

Class A:

RK TEAM RATING RECORD WIN % SOS SEC/ST SOS RK
1 South Saint Paul 1822.780 30-1-0 0.968 96.062 2/16
2 Hibbing/Chisholm 196.866 24-4-2 0.833 58.539 9/34
3 Warroad 113.945 21-6-1 0.768 55.987 10/36
4 Blake School (The) 42.450 18-7-3 0.696 44.755 12/48
5 Saint Louis Park 38.367 20-8-0 0.714 50.610 11/38
6 Farmington 35.403 23-4-0 0.852 12.779 29/88
7 Totino-Grace 21.951 18-7-1 0.712 19.143 16/71
8 New Prague 19.161 24-6-0 0.800 14.413 23/81
9 Crookston High School 10.483 20-6-0 0.769 82.044 8/26
10 Fergus Falls 10.317 14-11-0 0.560 98.074 1/15
11 Alexandria 6.588 18-9-3 0.650 12.789 28/87
12 Mahtomedi 5.826 14-11-1 0.558 89.981 6/23
13 Simley 5.689 10-14-3 0.426 94.559 3/17
14 Hutchinson 5.097 16-9-2 0.630 12.915 27/86
15 Breck School 5.049 13-12-2 0.519 17.345 18/74
16 St.Paul United 3.571 12-9-3 0.563 11.506 30/89
17 New Ulm Eagles 3.414 16-6-2 0.708 3.531 43/110
18 Roseau 3.381 13-14-0 0.481 25.808 14/68
19 Austin 2.823 16-8-0 0.667 4.109 39/106
20 Shakopee 2.648 13-14-1 0.482 14.262 24/82
21 Proctor/Hermantown/Marshallsch 2.455 12-13-0 0.480 25.287 15/69
22 Willmar 2.385 15-11-0 0.577 3.708 40/107
23 Mound Westonka White Hawks 2.237 13-11-2 0.538 15.496 20/77
24 SilverB/Two H/Cook Cty Mariner 2.183 12-10-0 0.545 26.125 13/67
25 St. Peter/LeSueur-Hend 1.809 16-9-1 0.635 3.56 42/109

Also deserving of consideration due to SOS...

RK TEAM RATING RECORD WIN % SOS SEC/ST SOS RK
28 Richfield 1.619 6-20-0 0.231 92.088 5/19
37 Orono 0.350 3-23-2 0.143 89.395 7/24
42 Thief River Falls 0.177 3-17-1 0.167 92.360 4/18

Class AA:

RK TEAM RATING RECORD WIN % SOS SEC/ST SOS RK
1 Wayzata 426.241 26-4-1 0.855 171.453 5/5
2 Eden Prairie 255.154 25-3-0 0.893 99.684 14/14
3 North 213.854 22-6-0 0.786 179.811 4/4
4 Stillwater Area 190.667 21-6-0 0.778 138.257 9/9
5 Roseville Area 178.169 21-5-2 0.786 179.908 3/3
6 Centennial 169.899 24-6-1 0.790 109.919 12/12
7 Blaine High School 154.644 21-6-0 0.778 119.679 10/10
8 Benilde-St. Margaret's School 150.544 19-5-2 0.769 70.709 24/32
9 C-E-C Lumberjacks 135.713 19-7-4 0.700 140.916 8/8
10 Elk River 108.183 20-8-0 0.714 80.773 19/27
11 Academy of Holy Angels 104.629 25-4-1 0.850 31.605 50/62
12 Anoka 90.755 20-11-0 0.645 182.595 2/2
13 Edina 66.897 17-10-0 0.630 152.009 7/7
14 Cretin-Derham Hall 65.457 22-7-1 0.750 49.497 29/40
15 WRIGHT CTY BLADES 59.139 22-7-2 0.742 45.473 36/47
16 Hill-Murray School 53.665 14-12-1 0.537 212.460 1/1
17 Burnsville 37.687 19-8-1 0.696 37.446 43/55
18 Moorhead 36.101 18-6-0 0.750 91.901 15/20
19 Rochester Mayo 33.837 23-4-2 0.828 80.437 20/28
20 Chisago Lakes/Pine City 23.232 18-9-1 0.661 31.898 49/61
21 White Bear Lake Area 22.991 12-14-0 0.462 82.942 18/25
22 Maple Grove 22.962 14-14-0 0.500 63.104 25/33
23 Park 22.231 13-10-1 0.563 112.250 11/11
24 Chaska 21.219 13-14-0 0.481 71.879 23/31
25 Hopkins 20.068 11-14-1 0.442 78.801 22/30

Also deserving of consideration due to SOS...

RK TEAM RATING RECORD WIN % SOS SEC/ST SOS RK
27 Henry Sibley 18.742 15-10-1 0.596 162.715 6/6
43 Woodbury 5.935 10-15-1 0.404 105.050 13/13
44 Minnetonka 5.579 9-16-1 0.365 79.672 21/29

Also - teams that had top SOS, but rebuilding:

RK TEAM RATING RECORD WIN % SOS SEC/ST SOS RK
62 Owatonna 0.647 6-20-0 0.231 90.081 17/22
67 Tartan 0.013 0-22-1 0.022 91.360 16/21

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeyfan at: 10/6/05 12:24 pm

Re:Preseason Top 10
Watched a few games this summer and fall. Stillwater, Eden Prairie, and Wayzata are going to be the teams to beat in AA. In single A, South St. Paul has a great program they will be a contender. Hibbing and Warroad grow hockey players like most of us have weeds in our lawns. They will be there. For what it is worth...

Re: Re:Preseason Top 10
This is my first year dealing with girls high school hockey so I don't know much about the good players out there. My daughter is in her first year. She is going to play with Armstrong and they could have a pretty competative team. They have a number of girls with a lot of experience and they are getting some pretty solid new players. I think they might surprise some people. They don't have any real superstars but this is the first year they will have solid players from top to bottom. They also have a new coach and everything said about him is real positive. Joel Zedlik played at Airforce Academy and was the boys JV coach last year. The boys loved him.

Re: top 20 teams
Yes all those teams are quite good.. a few questionable. But some are forgetting about Albert Lea. Most thought they werent going to be good but I have seen them play recently. They have Laura Hillman and Jenna Christensen. They play Farmington next Tuesday so I guess we will see how that goes. Has anyone seen Albert Lea play?

Re: top teams
I heard Albert Lea got their lunch handed to them in a scrimmage with Mahtomedi last weekend.

Re: top teams
Well I am not sure.. i heard that they did pretty good until their 3rd goalie went in.. then she let in like 4 goals. But they were tight for a while. 2-2 through first 2 periods. Albert Lea beat Winona about 6-2 in their first game.
