AA teams you would like to see at State

Post by SEC Scotty »

1AA Hastings Anybody but a Lakeville school
2AA Eden Prairie- Gritty squad
3AA CDH Gotta have the top team.
4AA Hill like to see them at state just because I watched so many of their games. Heart says go Bears!
5AA. Centennial. Somebody besides Maple Grove and Blaine.
6AA BSM Probably my favorite team to watch this year.
7AA Grand Rapids-! Because they have the great fans and are a blast at state.
8AA. Just to watch the Strand kid. Moorhead will be back.

Agree with pretty much all of yours except 5AA. I'd like to see Maple Grove. This is thinking really far ahead, but I'm dreaming of a Benilde-Maple Grove semifinal on Friday night. Have a feeling those two teams would put on a show.

Centennial. I believe they are better than most people think.

Pretty hard for Blaine to go in 5AA.

Hill Murray-

23 State Tournament appearances
14 Times reached state semifinals
Played in 10 state championship games (7 in 14 years, 1980-1993)
Won 6 runner-up, 2 3rd Place, & 2 consolation titles
Won 4 State Titles - 1983, 1991, 2008, 2020
Won 2 Independent State Titles - 1970, 1972

As a boy of the North I hope Hill Murray never again wins a state title but I think the above indicates blue blood. 50+ years of excellence

No considering HM a non blue blood is what's hilarious.Look I'm a Mahtomedi guy I despise HM.Having said that I also deeply respect them as a program and the fact is Hill is the gold standard for high school hockey in the east metro. They are also a top 3?Program in the state since joining MSHSL.

I can't understand why anyone, outside of the other towns in 8AA, would not want to see Roseau in the Tourney whenever possible.
Considering their history and the fact that they are a tiny town playing with the big boys, I always cheer them on. (And I'm not from there, nor do I even live in MN anymore.)
I feel the same about Rapids, too, to a lesser extent.

I like Roseau, but I also like Moorhead. And so I'm fine with either of them coming down. I don't really care to see Buffalo or STMA take that slot.

Ok I mentioned this on another thread today, and it needs to be repeated here. If you guys don't lay off the ganja, I'm going to ask Karl and Lee to institute mandatory drug testing before anyone can post.

Rosemount is below .500. So why in the world would you want to see them at the X over Cre-tine? There are exceptions for all of us, but for the most part we want the best teams from each section, so we have the most competitive games to watch.

That said, if Hill draws the Irish on Thursday (or even Friday) I won't mind at all. I would be surprised but not at all shocked if Cre-tine were to lose to Rosemount or STA. But I hope they make it, so they can have the #1 seed, I don't want to come near it.

A hard question to answer . Based on - Raw talent ? , history ? , best for the future ? Matchups? Upset potential ?

I know I’d like to see Roseau this year , deserving and since Moorhead is going to be there for a while again after this year

Hoping GR too , cause I think they overperformed , have several underrecognized kids , and just for the history and also to have a couple 218 teams .

Cretin, this is their year and Im excited about it , but going to have to break the STA curse to get there.

Beyond that , let’s hope PL or Chaska wins a shot while EP and Tonka are having somewhat off years

And it would be fun to see BSM back after a decade , so no Lake Conf participants .

5AA , Rogers deserving of a shot after the season they’ve had . But i’m Ok with a Crimson return or Centennial after 4 year absence

South 75% chance . Good kids . Wish more 1AA competition.

Hill a 90% chance . Ok with that . An unbelievable tough schedule and peaking at right time . The machine keeps reloading .

Sure, it’d be boring to see the same old schools again, but I don’t think anyone wants to play Tonka right now…

Blue blood is a program with a rich history and are for the most part in contention every year: you kind of expect them to be there

Think Alabama and Ohio State in college football or Duke/Kentucky/Kansas in college basketball.
