Good game. Rapids seemed to run out of steam.

Yeah, hermantown was better in the third and ot. Looked like rapids tried a defense shell to squeak out a win but that didn't work. I think hermantown also picked up their play, momentum from getting to within 1 in the final 10 seconds of period 2, carried them to a W. Rapids did have a penalty shot in OT and hermantown got a pp that led to the winning goal. Fair referring, hardly any penalties called, good game. Could be a good learning game for GR going into postseason play.

Game of the year in NE Minnesota. Good measure for both clubs. Aside from Rapids packing into the defensive shell nearly the entire 3rd period they also lacked the puck luck HTown had. Consider:

- the no-goal call in the 1st period when Hermantown goalie, Callaway, pulled the puck off the goal line as it was trickling in - or did he? It appeared that the puck did cross the line just before Callaway brought the puck forward with his glove, although replays were inconclusive & the ref was on the opposite side of the net from where he would have had a better view. Also the goal judge may have been obscured by the goalie's glove. Under the circumstances fairly called.
- DeMars' backhand snipe off the crossbar in the 3rd that was an inch or so from hitting net.
- the 'own goal' off Young's stick that narrowed Rapids' lead to 2-1 at the end of period 2. If Young lets the puck get past him it rolls into the corner and time likely runs out, or if he has his stick better positioned he gains control of the puck. Credit to Hermantown for pressuring the net, however.
- the 'sort of own goal' on a shot off Morque's shoulder that ended up in the net to tie the score at 2-2.
- would Rapids have been better off with a power play in OT than with a penalty shot? According to the Duluth News Tribune article, Hermantown coach Andrews thinks so.

Lots of things to consider, or reconsider, in that game, especially the seeming decision by Chiodo to go defensive in the 3rd. Additionally, seems like Rapids has had difficulty keeping leads at the end of close games against good competition all season. They will need to get that fixed by playoff time.

This was a really good game between two 218 powerhouses who could both be champs in their class at the X

Just had the feeling the longer the OT went on that we’d see the odds increase for a Plante to bury it , and sure enough Max got it done with a beauty .

Well done boys on both teams !

I will echo Reed Larson’s comment on the broadcast , why Easton Young isn’t generating more Mr Hockey and D1 interest is a mystery to me .
