Minnesota Gophers

Post by EREmpireStrikesBack »

Mark my words, back to back National Champions next year and the year after. I'm not saying that it won't happen this year, because it very easily could, but watch out for them in the future.

What does everyone think about this years team?

Btw, I'm sad that we won't have the first-hand goalie account about the UMD Bulldogs this year....
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

What we need is a three-peat from the Gophers. Heck, we need the gophers to win every year, cuz lets face it, Minnesota is hockey and who better to represent the state in hockey superiority than the gophs?

Oh I don't know...I'd settle for a national championship from any one of the four "other" division 1 hockey programs in Minnesota....

That's just my twin cities bias. Gotta like the home team. UMD, SCSU all good too.

I do think that in a few years the new coaching staff will have an impact, but for the next 2-3 years SCSU will not be a top WCHA team.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

You are likely accurate that they won't be in the Final Five this year or maybe even next....but then again, maybe the Gophs won't either....just because the talent is there doesn't mean it is in the bag....as we all are so painfully aware no matter who your pre-season pick is!

This is their year to do it. You never know how many guys will leave after this year. You have Kessel, Wheeler, all the seniors, potulny, and irmen could also go, not to mention a few others. The have to get it done while they have the chance.

Pro or no Pro

Post by EREmpireStrikesBack »

Are the Gophs turning into the Duke of hockey? Get guys for a year or two and then they go pro?
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls
