Hoche

Post by VABlueDevilsfan »

Looks as though Qweerty has issue with Hoche. I see nothing positive coming from your posts or some other posters on this thread. What do you achieve from this? Are you a better person by bring someone down?
We will see what Hoche will do this year. I wish him and the Blue Devils an awesome year with a repeat to State. At State the team will be ready this time. If you have seen Hoche only in State, that may be the conclusion you would draw (below average..over-rated..whatever). BUT, Coach Hendrickson had faith in Hoche and that's what matters. Hoche performed well for the team, helping to get them to State. Tell me this, if he is over-rated and Poderzay is outstanding in a class with the best tenders in the state, how did Virginia/Hoche beat Hibbing/Poderzay with nearly identical stats in the section final.
Yeah, and have a great day!!!

I don't think I was "comparing" goaltender to goaltender. I merely suggested that those who continually throw GAA's around like they are the best measuring stick for the best goaltenders need to keep in mind there are other points to consider when evaluating the success of a goaltender.

I've seen Ellingson play and he has a good team in front of him. I've only seen Lee play once but have had some opportunity to see his skill/technique other than in a game setting. Both are good goaltenders but neither of them see the excessive number of shots that some of these goalies do that don't have a strong D playing in front of them. I don't think you or anyone can really deny that. It's not meant to be disrespectful to anyone because that's not my style.

Puckhead89
I wasn't posting about you. You explained my beliefs on goaltenders abilities exactly.
Hoche played for Ely and some games he saw 60-70 shots and he held his ground with nobody in front of him. The score final may have looked terrible but looking further at the stats told a different story about the tender. This is only my belief......You can have an excellent goaltender without a team in front of him and still win some but you are not going to win if your team has a "below average" goaltender.
Sorry Puckhead that you thought I was scolding you. Those it was intended for will not see the ills of their ways.
How many more days til the season begins?????????????

VABlueDevilsFan, actually our posts came on the board at about the same time....I was responding to Qwerty just like you....so thanks, but I knew who your post was directed to.

Nice there are some of us out there who appreciate the goaltenders who are offering their teams alot but never quite get the credit. It makes the game more fun to watch when you understand goaltending and how the netminder is actually doing in the net....win or lose, eh?

We'll see how good he does this year without a standout D1 defensemen(who barely left the ice) on his side. Time will tell.

Nisky

Post by unionballs »

Hey 15. Dont get your pants in a swirl. I agree with you on Niskanen. I think he's fantastic. My comment was for Hoche or should I say Blue Devils fan. I think Virginia will be hurting without Nisky. He played a huge part in V-town's run. The goalies might have seen 30 or 40 shots a game once in awhile, but Nisky made sure no rebounds were around. I wish the best of luck to the team. My point was Nikanen went in the first round of the draft for a reason. Goalies best friend.

Ya, Virginia's defense will defininitely be hurting. You can't expect to equal last year's defense when you lose Niskanen. Hoche will be getting more rebounds and more quality shots with the loss of niskanen.

Hey 15...don't think that a 10th grader is going to bring you guys to state....no goalie- no Matt-and no Robes coaching the defense means NO STATE! Sleep on that!

hhhtoad,

I have seen a couple posts from you around the forum stating Virginia will have no goalie and no defense. I would like to remind you that:

1) They have TWO very experienced and proven goaltenders. Why you refuse to acknowledge this puzzles me.

2) They also are only losing ONE defenseman, albiet an NHL 1st round pick, but nonetheless, all of the returning defensemen played last year on a regular basis and the floodgates did not open when they were on the ice.

3) Perhaps you are also overlooking the fact that Keith Hendrickson is one of the best defensive coaches in the state. He has taken some talent-less teams in the past and made them very competetive by teaching them sound team defense.

As far as the 10th grader remark goes, I wonder if you've ever actually seen him play.

Hermantown

Post by hawkfan70 »

It has been a few weeks since I have heard anything about how Hibbing and Virginia are the teams to beat in 7A. From everything I see here, Hermantown has no chance. Why is that?

Go Hawks

So guys and gals don't forget about the Two Harbors team this year........I think this the group of kids that went to state when they were bantams........If I remember correctly this is a good bunch of kids that should have a good year. I think they have a couple of kids on the elite 2 team. Good Luck Two Harbors.

3 years ago I think it was the bantam b team that won districts and regionals then went to State (I think it was the first year they invited Bantam b1's) I talked to a parent that told me about them.

I would be shocked if Two Harbors didn't finish with a winning record, and they play a relatively tough schedule when compared with Silver Bay, Ely, and a couple others. In the end, I think they'll have an outside shot at the section title.

I dont see two harbors in the mix at all, even though they did embarrass hibbing last year, no matter what they will always have that win to talk about, and hibbing will always have that loss to be ridiculed for. Top contenders this year will be like most years, Hibbing virginia Hermantown
